The easiest way to see how most people felt about 30 minute guitar solo's is to ask yourself what you were doing during bass or drum solo.

All it took was sitting through 20 minutes of Zakk Wylde soloing on the NRFTW tour and I was done. Hate extended solo's. Brief spots from great players is fine but the "arena" splotlight moment sucks. There's a reason my version of 100,000 years off Alive 1 is a lot shorter. Edited that drum solo right out...

10 minute solo? What about 30! Rik Emmett from Triumph took a solo soo long the rest of the band probably took an hour nap on the tour bus. And it wasn't even that good.

Even Eddies live solo was so full of itself. The perfect live arena solo was Randys. Not to short not to long.

I luv it.. I'm an 80's kid.. yeah a 30 minute guitar solo... nah. yawn, but I like Sykes tone.. Someone asked earlier about his tone, I tried and failed, but I heard someone's soundcloud still of the night, and they damn near nailed it.

For sure he sounds good.
The only real extended Solo I want to see these days is Angus Young.
In case you never seen AC/DC live.....He is like an animated cartoon character when he rocks his solo.
Very entertaining.
