Agreed good video. What's the recording setup? Sounds like dual or mixed mics?
edit maybe the reverb in post adding a stereo effect..
Thanks a bunch! I had two different Splawn Quickrods (one without Loop Master Volume and one with). I loved those amps and it's tough to justify the price of a high dollar amp when the Splawns sound as good as they do and you can snag them relatively cheap on the used market. I loved the BIGness of those amps and the super tight bottom end. I remember when I sold it, dude came over to my place to check it out and I was like, "Shit. That sounds awesome. I don't want to sell this thing." Sold it anyways because I said I would, but I could see myself having one of those again in the future.311splawndude":2fwx4aqr said:excellent video
enough variance in stuff to keep my interest
def more compressed than a Splawn (for example) as you say and that was one hell of a write up on all the Friedmans - thanks for doing that. A little fizzy for my taste but I'm on Splawn right now going in a different direction.
really really good playing and tone for sure.
Think you're the same person from youtube, but figured I'd answer here as well. Yeah, saw that this amp did not have the Line Out. I never used it in the past on his other amps, but see how it could be handy for certain applications like Stereo & W/D/W rigs. As for the Smallbox, I had one for a while and really liked it. It can basically do the BE-100 thing but with the 50w power section, no HBE channel, and the Plexi Channel (that the BE-100 Deluxe has) instead of the clean channel that's on the BE. The bands I play in are fairly heavy so I enjoyed the "bigness" of the BE-100 & SS-100 that I had at the time vs the Smallbox. Low end felt a little tighter/bigger and there was more gain on tap with the bigger amps. They're all dynamic, but there was something extra dynamic about the Smallbox. It was really responsive to your pick attack in a great way. Plus, there's something awesome about the smaller headshell. Looks killer and is easy to carry around. Thanks for watching!bsic":2zbyo58g said:Sweet video and great playing!!
The BE100 deluxe seems to check all the boxes.
How does it compare to the smallbox? I’m mostly a classic rock/80s player with some 90s thrown in (STP, Soundgarden). I’ve heard the SB nails classic tones better, and it has a line out which is useful. But the Be100 has so much more flexibility in tone shaping and has the super high gain should I ever need it (it’s fun to play there now and then!)
I have owned 2 small boxs a Jake E Lee Friedman head and the BE deluxe.Sweet video and great playing!!
