I think it has to do with the general decline of health and grit in the fighting age population.
Maybe. It also has to do with the fact that a great many people are awake to the fact that war is just business. And for the average grunt it simply doesn't pay. What are you risking your life for ? When was the last war we actually fought for, you know, our way of life, our liberty, etc. ? Seems pretty likely the next war we fight for that stuff will be against our own government.

Bingo! They're glad to have your so called queens and trannies to fight for their freedom while hiding behind their bank accounts..

You think they're fighting for their freedom ?

I think they joined because the government will pay for their surgery. Which is one of the reasons why people that actually would fight for your freedom are no longer interested in a career in the military.

Because of Pearl Harbor?
No. I mean I agree with the premise of retribution for Pearl Harbor. Really though you had Hitler, Mussolini and the Japanese ( but mainly Hitler) actively invading and taking over countries and attempting to control an entire continent or two. The vast majority of the young men who enlisted after Pearl Harbor absolutely believed they were fighting for our freedom. As did our politicians and military leaders.

Of course most of the recruits probably did. Now as you mention they are probably more aware and jaded. As for the political and military leaders, there is evidence you know that FDR had foreknowledge of the attack and used it as justification to enter the war, as the public was very reticent. This was the original Old-right, antiwar, "America first" movement.

Even if that's true it cannot be denied there was a real possibility of Hitler taking over the world dude.

As in 1/1,000,000?
He nearly took over Europe. If not for outside ( of Europe) interference he would have. If not for having two fronts, that is US and allied intervention, he could have taken Russia. The Japanese WOULD have taken China.

Nope. The Russians used the same tactic they succesfully used on Napoleon some 100+ years before; retreat into the cold, suffer tremendous losses, but still somewhat prepared/dressed for it and basically starving/freezing the enemy while doing so. The fact that ol' Adolf had to become chummy with ol' Josef was more a need of self-preservation than anything else.

Yeah, we all know that. No western front though, good chance Hitler rolls right over the new USSR. He wasn't stupid.

He wasn't stupid, but cocky/megalomanian. I mean, that whole Maus tank design that wouldn't fit in any street? 😅
And it wasn't like Barbarossa took place in '43 or '44 either FWIW.
