Kruse amps opinions?

I know Jens. He's a smart guy and does know his way around complicated amps. And yes, he was the authorize Diezel tech in the States for a while. Many don't love how bright his mods are, but that is a matter of taste.

I like bright and had no issue with that. It was more this inherent brittle, unmusical quality to the tone and feel that's hard to put exactly in to words, partly also since it's been years now since I had it. I've had brighter amps even that didn't have those issues

Interesting. Jens was really nice and polite with me and got my amp back with the mod in less than 2 weeks. I just don’t like the way his stuff sounds. Like you and others said, it was brittle in sound and feel. Just not as pleasant/enjoyable to play. He did seem very passionate for sure, which I liked
Yeah, he had always been nice and polite in the past, however, the last time (through emails), he was very short (and rude) the last time I had emailed him about doing the simple battery mod for an ADA MP-1.

He emphasized that he was really busy and not interested in doing the work (totally get being too busy (it was just the way it was stated)).

Possibly, he replied after having some strong coffee and was in a rush :dunno:

I just felt that we had a different relationship after all of the hours I had spent/lost listening to his issues with Stapfer.

The switching units he has made seem to be gear that people have commented on with positive remarks.

I had a 5150 50w modded by Kruse some years back. Sounded like a big mess. He shipped it back to me with no preamp tubes and told me all the preamp tubes were bad so he just threw them out. Fucking weird.
