Whatever tubes are best for each amp is what I think you have to do

Ahh this thread is back! So a while after I posted this I had the chance to try a few different brand KT88 and 6550s. The best sounding and feeling under the fingers for me was the EH KT88s. Though I no longer own any amps that take big bottle tubes.

I splashed for the Gold Lion 88s.
Been in my 20thA Sheevs now for 2 years and they're still crushing, punchy, potent and beautiful. Highly recommended.

I have these in my Matamp GT150. They bring the thump for bass, and the punch for heavy fuzz, and high gain metal guitar tones.

Cleans are warm, deep, clear, and everything that is the opposite of sterile. Tbt it is almost enough to never miss reverb, and I love anywhere from a splash to an ocean of reverb for some clean tones.

Super low tuned Doom tones are like an avalanche of gravel filled sludge in the best way.

Flip floppin a bit..
I've never tried any Chinese Power Tubes ever..
Might try the TAD STR Redbase deals.. They ear supposed to be good.

You have some bad luck..(n)
I've had one redplate ever and that's it..
Got a Quad of TAD's in the mail. Never bought Tubes from Amplified Parts before, but plenty of other stuff. Their Tube Matcher is hyped to be pretty good..
We'll see what happens..

No they quit working. Three sets of kt88s did the exact same thing. Steve Fryette serviced the amp and said it was fine. He put in one more set and after 2-3 months, boom
aww man, this isn't good to hear. I forgot I have 6550 in a Fryette PS100. Any idea if the 6550 are as unreliable as the current KT88?

Might be something to try if the KT88 keep burning out on you. I'm surprised Fryette didn't recommend trying them though.
KT's are the beefiest, most chunky Tubes. They are supposed to be bullet proof..

yeah man, not saying anything about design, just reliability and current production dies. I think Fryette would have mentioned them if they were any better reliability wise.
