Lack of GAS

I've got way more than enough amps and guitars. There is 1 Amp on my list but that's about it.

A few months ago I came to the realization that I'm 100% happy with my gear, and I've tried everything I wanted to try with one exception. Life was good!

The problem is, I can't stop looking at all the sale pages- and guess what happened? There was that one amp, a Rev C Recto. FUCK! I had to buy it. (TOTALLY worth it BTW.)

Ok now so I have NOTHING left on my need to try list! What a feeling!!!! Problem is, I can't stop looking at the effing sale pages!!!!

So a few days ago when a IIC+ DRG popped up mis-labeled for $1499 guess what? I bought it faster than a geek blowing his load in the prom queen.

I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer to have that mythical unicorn, the CC with nothing on it. :HAHA:

We've got problems. Why can't we just look at porn like normal husbands?

Yeah prices on everything are so high right now it makes it tough to even daydream. I was looking at used cars the other day and the prices are ridiculous.

I’m with most on the music gear though…..if certain things come along, I’ll pay the premium.

Still have some gas, but like others said its on specific items. The current prices have reflected that. I will say if I find a killer deal on a few things, I will like still spring for one. On vintage amps, I don't even look at them if they are fixed up and asking market price, want ones that need work.

Spot on! No point in buying used under the current situation, I'd rather buy new or go without.

I'm cool.
It's of money in savings.
Clean credit cards,great credit rating.
Could order any amp I want, but am more than happy with what I have.
Now I just want a good meal and a nice nap.
I'm old.

But damned if I don't ALWAYS look at the classifieds to see what's available....
Ha I am right there with you. I feel like selling some stuff now but not buying anything. I guess I am just not motivated as much.

Not much I need these days but you never know. With the supply chain issues that everyone is dealing with these days, sometimes the GAS runs out pretty quickly.

I have perpetual GAS. There's no cure . I've just learned to live with it. 😆 🤣 😂

More money to spend on car parts for me. I have not bought a guitar in over a year.

I’ve still got GAS but it’s for the same gear as it was 15 years ago. But the prices are twice as much as they were back then for a lot of it.

Outside possibly a Hermansson mod.... I have zero gas. Wanted a Naylor... got one love it... Wanted a Huber Krautster II... it's en route. Very lucky and blessed to have and enjoy these opportunities... Now... just gotta stay inspired as this mind and body ages... and modern music gets worse and worse :)

I've bought 2 guitars, and have returned 1 so far. I'm 50/50 on the one I just bought.
I had GAS for them, but playing them extinguished it, and now I'm just blech.

Like some of you I am pretty happy with what I got. I am finding as I get older that if I save for something and not use a credit card I usually get the gear I want most and never seem to want to sell it later. Although it is fun to scan over the classifieds and see whats for sale.

I lost guitar gas after getting my white Charvel nitro in 2016. I did buy another one in 2020, but it has a vtrem, so it was different enough to justify.

As for amps, I’ve had a lot and much prefer Marshall types. I love the Cameron mods since they have a little Boogie in their DNA. I honestly have no amp gas though. Sold off most of my amps, but kept a vintage Marshall and some junk that sounds good IMO. I did pick up a 50 watt Metro amp to mod a few years ago… that should help cure and gas since I will mod it to exactly what I want.

I will admit, I still like to buy pedals and ordered that Master Effects PEQ pedal. Hopefully I will have it soon.

I don’t actively hunt any guitar gear though. I prefer to play than to look.

I haven't purchased anything since 2018.... except picks and strings. I'm good to go

So the crazy price tag on used gear has pretty much extinguished most if not all GAS that I might be feeling. It‘s kinda disappointing but on the other hand a relief. What’s your thoughts?
I was going to buy another Charvel model 2, I figured around $5-600...... I was dreaming, for anything decent in an old Charvel I need to spend $900 and up. I don't need anything so I guess it is best to wait for now.

Had 2 of them new back in the 80;s.

Going Fractal killed all my amp/effects GAS. Between the AxeFX III and FM9 I’m covered in the studio and live rig now.

A couple weeks ago I decided I was going to start collecting pedals again just for shits and giggles because pedals are fun and I miss the excitement of a new one showing up. It’ll most likely never see a stage, but it’ll surely get some use in the studio.

First two pedals I snagged is a Cornish SS-3 clone and the new Vibe from Brent from Mastodon’s pedal company.
