I've been to many, and would often walk around exploring; some places looked shady and very poor, and I never had a problem. I think most places in Asia are safe; out in the countryside of some could be dangerous; there are places in Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, with a majority muslim population, and areas that have been radicalized that are known to be unsafe. Most of the Philippines are Christian (Roman Catholic); Thailand is mostly Buddhist but has areas dominated by Islam that are not safe...

That said, if you live in the cheaper areas to save money you could be less safe. There are expat enclaves in most Asian countries, they cost more, and have better security, but you're not living local. e.g., BCG in Manilla

There are many places throughout Asia like this. Good to stay while you explore the country and discover other areas IMO
Kuching, Malaysia is a beautiful city, very safe. Very highly educated population, forward thinking.

Moving to these cheap offshore places is a cool thought.

My concern is healthcare and saftey.
So true, you're not just leaving the country but also the laws, security and "benefits" you had.
And moving to a country that dwarfs the US in Healthcare will be more expensive, you have to be wealthy enough to cover those losses.

Thailand has affordable healthcare services; especially in major cities like Bangkok; same for other countries; and with certain visas you can get low cost health insurance, some actually require it for certain visas.

A basic checkup at a public healthcare provider costs between ฿30–500, while a basic health check at a private provider costs around ฿700. More extensive procedures, like surgery, can cost ฿500,000 or more at a private provider

฿30–500, = $0.87 - $14.49
฿700 = $20.28
฿500,000 = $14,488.55

and they have top quality facilities and staff. but do your own research

Bozo Biden admin committed to send every available tax dollar to Ukraine before Trump takes office.

Blinken is right after Mayorkas, Wray, and Fauci on who I want to see investigated

I think the next 4-8 years is brief respite, the woke globalist demoncrats aren't finished yet.

Caribbean or Asia are up for consideration; as is moving to the US Virgin Islands...far enough away yet no need for a second passport which aren't cheap.

Crime is bad in most of the US Virgin Islands, and I won't blend in making me more of a target. The safe neighborhoods are pricey...many houses have bars on the windows and doors, for example.

Lots of options to consider. Shipping my gear to the VI might be costly too, but less than a second passport.
Here's an uniformed but honest question:

Is an island a safe place to run to?

Shit hits the fan worldwide and all you need is one hurricane to hit.
Who throws you the life preserver and rebuilds your island?
Digs you out, restores your power?

Money will be going every other direction.

Small islands are a good place, at least I think so, as long as you have a good boat with storage and accommodations.

Many marinas, moorings and secluded bays, even in the FL keys. For example, the Bahamas contain over 700+ islands, many private or uninhabited, only accessible by boat, the nearest is around 50 nm from FL.

I watched a series of vids of two FL fisherman, they sailed a small sailboat from FL to the Bahamas, checked in with customs, and went fishing at several different deserted islands, they didn't encounter anyone until a local fishing boat saw them, but didn't approach them. After the local fishing boat left, and was no longer visible they moved to another island saying they didn't want to take a chance of that fishing boat coming back at night to rob or kill them...piracy is still a real threat.

You're far enough away from large population centers, and can easily sail away. If a hurricane is coming, you can look for a "hurricane hole" or "snug harbor" - a sheltered place to ride out the storm. During hurricane season, probably a good idea to always know where the closest safe harbor is located.

FWIW, after posting about the USVI, I looked at property on the USVI again, and the crime stats are just not worth it; unfortunately.

They are trying to get Trump to talk to Putin (and other world leaders) so they can bust Trump on Logan Act violations.

Trump just needs to make a general statement; e.g., "My administration is watching events and actions in the USA and around the world. I'd like to remind leaders in the US and leaders around the world that any actions they take since the election may be subject to possible consequences when I take office on January 20, 2025. "

Or something similar. We're watching you, and we will hold you accountable for your actions if needed.

FAFO.
