Current GH50L owner here. I think it’s the happiest I’ve been with an amp, and that includes SLOs, JCM 800s, Splawn.
Just a great sounding and operating rock amp.

Play an AOR sometime and you won’t have to wonder. ?I always wonder why Laney never became as popular as Marshall .

I would say he has never had good tone. Great player though.Regardless of how good this amp is or isn't, Paul's tone hasn't been good since he LEFT Laney. He just can't seem to find his tone. Layering pedals over a clean amp or a crunch channel of this or that album just doesn't work for him. I know he see's himself more as a blues guy now but his tone sucks ballZ now. It's flat.

Thank you for the explanation . Why do you think they were never as popular ?The best known Laney amp in the 80's. The ones that were behind DeMartini on stage. The ones that were supposed to compete with JCM800's in the market and didn't come close in popularity.
Or gutted and made into an 800 with mods which is what I did... or you can put a few jumpers on the board and wire them into an 800 which I had also done. Good bones on those things but they were fizzyM
