No he’s serious. Dime recorded with wizards.

Awhile back, someone here posted a magazine article clip, of I think Vinnie Paul, talking about his recording amp set up and he confirmed it.

I’ll do you one better. I believe on the forum are pics of Dime’s recording studio left as it was when he passed and you can see wizard amps in the back.

I'm sure a Wizard would could get a good Dime tone, I'm not arguing that. Here's Wes Hauch using an Archon getting a Dimeish tone.

Maybe fire up your Wizard MTL and lay down some Dime clips, that would be worth a listen!:2thumbsup:

Ya you def can use other stuff . When I got my wizard MTL2 I was like there’s that sound I could never get . It has this glow to the saturation . El34s and Rick equal something I’ve not heard elsewhere . My Larry will be the king I’m sure
What did he use, MCI?

Now I need to go re-listen for them. The double EQ blast the mids makes it so hard to actually ID his amps.
i think so . I’m Checj me email . Rick sent me the specs for what dime used

Fire in f’n hole my dude’s!!
They stored me down there in Guantanamo Bay.
The couldn’t keep Alice In Chsins nor the Dino
in a digital cell…
It wasn’t too shabby tbh.

What was my claim about Larry amps cleans?!
The clean channels rule,
particularly with the 939 & the Rock Wizard.
-the RW actually has an even better clean channel by way of warmth & depth..
kinda has the soul of a Pro Reverb.
The gain channel was like a bloated JCM 800 in dire need of a boost to be presentable.
-no elements of the grunt in Larry Amps.

-that Dino clean channel was crazy good with a King of Tone and insanely great with octaver’s,
phaser’s- SUPER dope.
A Rat pedal..is butter on the potatoes man.
The top end is magical-but that might bite you in the ass later in the gain stages.
I preferred the Reggie’ British Channel best.
The others can be touchy, especially with EMG’s.
I rocked it with a Ken Lawrence Explorer with HetSet & Les Paul Customw/Motor City Pickups
“Hog’s Heaven.
You HAVE to play Larry Amps st least @5 on the volume adjuster, loud AF or walk home boy.
-that’s where the Gatlin Gun punch in the grunt cascades over the room💯.

How is Lawerence?
He’s pullin’ his usual mindfuck games.
He’ll steer y’all right into a labywrinth of lunacy.
He loves to sweat in’ Americans, like the scene from Saving Private Ryan where the German soldier calms the young American soldier as he finishes him-like that!!

So Lawerence .. WTF are the amps??

Btw, your user name..
When did Yoda start pippin’ Ludes man??
LTFOL, congrats with the amp.
Play it loud AF homie!!
I like how your hands and mind ‘think’ and create sounds.
You landscape sounds.
Cheers for YEARS💯
Apparently this was your old amp!

Also, my username is just my first name haha

Sounds thin to my ear, not enough ass, but I dig that wild hair and some frequency of mid scooped in there. I still don't really get what all the fuss is with Larry amps. Maybe you have to hear in person? Thanks Yehuda!
I had the punch knob all the way down since I like that type of tone- next weekend I’ll try to do a video with the settings Larry recommended- I recognize that I go for very different tones than the people here. With the punch knob up, it has near wizard punch. I’ll try to do more straight riffing as well- I was high as balls when I recorded this lmfao

You are the first person I have heard mention it but I have always liked Dime's tone. And the Wizard clips here on rig-talk have been among my favorites so I guess it's all adding up.
I challenge this.
To a certain extend you can say in the studio he used this in this part etc but that was not his baseline tone. Not enough hot sauce raunch
His baseline tone is his BALLS. and his wiggle stick
Thst guy was born a wicked guitar player,
He won the world guitar competition playing Eruprion .. -the diamond of Pantigo.
You think those animals would lug around a
$6000 amp?
In that crazy RV from hell??
Yeah right, give him a shot of Crown, blaze one down and BAM- there’s his f’n tone.
-coupled with the mad skills of Terry Date

He used it with two other amps in the studio on a few albums. No one ever said he used them live.

Very interested in this too.

dime also used a mark as well, though i believe for cleans. they recorded everything at their fathers studio, im sure they used all sorts of stuff. i saw an interview with Ulrich Wild who i guess was an engineer that said the secret weapon with dime was a little mackie mixer, i cant find it now though.

So many people asked me to make clips, so hope y'all don't hate the sound I go for- i'm just a dude with a sm57- not an audio engineer or anything

WOW. Now I get it. The fact that there's no audio trickery going on makes this a perfect demo. I was sold in the first 60 seconds.

Now pardon me while I go sulk in a corner and feel sorry for myself that I can't get one.
