Les Paul custom? Black or white?

From what I've researched the LPC's were all white but as they aged the lacquer yellowed because its an inferior coating. I do see some really really cream yellow ones that do look like they were just kinda yellow. I just bought a 1983 LPC that was repainted and I am now going to repaint it professionslly and do some custom work on it and make it seem to be 50-60 years old. This will be lots of fun plus it'll be my main axe at home.

Both look great and while I agree with Rezamatix that I would prefer one with chrome, LP customs are like the *only* guitar I can tolerate gold hardware on actually. A friend recently got an old custom (I think '73 or 74?) but it's a burst and yeah, just doesn't look quite right on a custom IMO.

ebony, preferably the 3 pickup version like Randy Rhoads ;) To me hard, hard to find a cooler looking LPC under the stage lights than a Black Beauty!

Love my alpine white. It's a 2008, and I can see it slowly getting a bit of yellowing. Besides it being my most played guitar of the bunch, it's also really motivating to keep, cause it just get's nicer and nicer.
I think it's the most pretty r&r guitar out there :) It's like a wolf wearing a tuxedo.

I would take either. BUT i want chrome/nickel hardware.

^^^^^This, in white. Can't get behind the gold...

I love my black LP. At this point it looks like a dude in a tux that partied all weekend with the Wolf Pack, got rolled for his shoes, and woke up just in time to avoid getting arrested.

Love my black custom, had a white one but always grabbed the black one so I sold it.
I just think black looks cooler I guess.

Brad King, where are you?!
You've got one Sweet, White LPC
Post it up.

Black guitars become invisible under colored lights on stage, White looks great under lights on stage. Who cares what color it is ? The only thing that matters is the sound. I usually play 100's of guitars looking for one I like the sound when unplugged.

tone
play-ability
cosmetics

In that order when looking for a guitar.

To the OP...I'd be more concerned over getting one where you like the feel, playability, response, tone, etc and let the winner of that contest dictate the color (both of which are cool).

This is very well said. I was going to come in and say white because of the obvious Randy Rhoads connection and the fact that there are more black than white ones around, but Rupe you really put it very simply.

After drinking some Jesus juice, I came to this conclusion:

It don't matter if it's black or white - MJ

Now that I've had time to think about it Silverburst Customs trump all other customs.

Silverburst truly is awesome! has that robotic fallout kinda thing going on.

Ok so my LPC gas is on inferno level. Going full inferno on the Gas.

What's up with these inlays?

I'm looking for a Custom again because of this thread, means I have to sell something again.
Those inlays are from the super 400 model, Gibson only made a limited amount of those in 91. You can't tell that they are different from even a few feet away and only if u really look. Gibson was making nice guitars in the 90's and that custom was one of their flagship models.
