Are you positive or is that a rumor because I'm hearing it's really really really difficult to find anything in Gibson's line that isn't heavily weight relieved these days.
Unless you think Gibson is flat out lying, the website lists the type of weight relief for each LP. For the Standard, it says "None".

Here's something I found that is from 2015:

LP Traditional
first LP Trad 2008 - 2012 ( traditional weight relief )
2013-2015 (non weight relief )
2016 ( traditional weight relief )

LP Classic:
first LP Classic - autumn 2006 ( traditional weight relief )
autumn 2006 - spring 2012 ( chambered )
spring 2012 - 2015 ( traditional weight relief )

LP Standard:
somewhere in 1983 - autumn 2006 ( traditional weight relief )
autumn 2006 - spring 2012 ( chambered )
spring 2012 - 2015 ( modern weight relief )

I have a '80 Custom and a '13 Standard and I think they're both great but very, very different. Custom is heavy and sustains forever but the Standard is average 9-ish pounds and resonant. The Custom has a hot Dirty Fingers type bridge pickup and the Standard has a slightly overwound PAF type. I like whichever one I'm playing.

Boiles down to me is its only because Jimmy Page played a std

When I was guitar shopping in the 70s for my first I didn't think past that point.

Now I'm more selective in what feels, sounds and is priced right.

I don't care what pro plays what anymore

Yeah gotta be honest, I always leaned towards the Standard because Page, Slash, etc had that type as their go-to. The funny thing is that in thr mid 80s, I didn't like Les Pauls and was chasing all hair metal guitars.
