I need a break from engl and have been thinking about this amp. Love lichlaerm pedals. Read info here and other forums trying to decide.

Company posted they handwire. Their quality /materials i have only heard good things. Cost isn't cheap. But its competitive enough in this day/age for a second look.

Videos seem great. Features are nice. I dont need IR loader so no loss there and has DI out. Good aesthetics to me.

Besides youtube reviews or reactions to videos there is very little. I trust it has more usable gain on tap than i will likely use and tightens up to engl level. But besides the pedals. I have no sound reference. At least with friedman, ksr, mesa, engl. You have the roughest ballpark what you might be getting yourself into based on another model or enough people have played and commented online.

That being said. Anyone out there use it or own? Any/all input welcomed.

Curious about these as well. I have chatted a bit with Joel at Northerner Guitars about them and he loves it! Problem is, they sell immediately when they come in, so tough to get a chance to sit down with one.

its nuts. Last batch sold out on the lichtlaerm website in like 30 min not to mention pre-sales.

Its not huge batches but they do sell fast. I hope you get that chance though and can share the experience.

I bought one and a matching 4x12 from batch 2. Really cool amps. Very versatile. Lots of well thought out features. I think it has a good feel. Very easy to play. You’re not fighting it. It soundsvery modern. Great clean (but who cares). It can get tight, thicker with a lot of string definition, or doomy. Tough to describe fully since I don’t think there’s anything quite like it. But it also doesn’t sound totally foreign if that makes sense.

might want to ask @avastcosmicarena as well. 😍

I'd like to hear what it compares with. It looked a very cool amp in the small amount of reviews I've seen.

Played it at NAMM and it was pretty killer. Daniel designed the amp and worked with marek at Driftwood to bring it all to life. It’s a very cool build and yeah, lots of cool features.

I think you did a really great job at describing it! Modern + good feel + all those well thought out features is a win. Might have to put my name down on one....

Have you tried the 4x12 with other amps? How are you digging that?

yeah, I didn't mean to imply anything different. It sounds like something unique that actually sounds good, which is not something easily accomplished today.

I've been curious about this amp too. I hear some things I like and some things I don't like in clips. Definitely seems like it can get plenty tight and modern if desired. My main concern, as with most recent amps, are if it sounds at all synthetic, filtered, cardboard-y, plastic-y or has poor note connection/feel

Actually id love comments on the clean channel. I keep a fender on hand for this reason. Usually high gain amps I've been underwhelmed or Clean doesn't get clean.

Thanks for this. It makes sense. Probably a positive then whereas other amps you can hear off the bat "this is a SLO clone" for example. It sounds like this is just different enough and versatile there isn't one thing you can compare too.

With the voicing modern vs brilliant. And the cut knob. Does it feel like an nfb control? Or maybe more like a eq pedal or filter?

How does the amp play on other speakers? I like lcfr but like a few other speakers a lot more. Wondering if that choice to make a fane would help inform sounds I would be in for.

Thank you for sharing!

Nice!
Maybe a better question for you then is. What held you back from ordering one this year?

Or If it's cost. If you had the cash. Would you order it or go with something else you liked better or did "that one thing" better to your ear.

I like the extras for sure.

Curious why you need a break from ENGL? Just going for something different?

I only ask because I’m just now considering ENGL

I sort of wish i could dial in nfb or depth. Instead of buttons for modern/classic and depth punch.

But no actual issues. In fact overall positive. Engl does the engl thing I like and does it well. No plans to sell. But no intention on getting another either.

I hear you… seems like the modern amps of today (redundant on purpose) should have NFB control and resonance - and for god sakes don’t put it on the back of the amp haha

Thank you. I have no idea how I missed that thread in my reviews. But going to read. With that collection. If I'm not an idiot and keep my questions focused their input is going to be really helpful.

I played it at namm. I won’t share my opinions on the amp since I consider Daniel a friend and I’m biased. What I will say is that the cut knob is basically a tightness knob- you can hear the knob in action on a lot of his pedals. The feature set of the amp is obviously really unique. Sonically, it was in the range of uber ultra, granophyre, Carstens empire type of amp. I also didn’t get to play it at a volume that could even allow me to evaluate the amp properly to compare against my favorites- there were amps I liked at namm that I didn’t end up liking at volume and vice versa.

Appreciate the candor. Maybe your biased. But if my friend made something not good. I wouldn't bad mouth them but I wouldn't go out of my way to comment either. Thank you.

It's a very, very well designed amp. It's definitely modern and you won't be getting any vintage marshall kerrang out of it, but it's also not a one-trick pony. The clean channel is quite nice, I particularly like the warm setting. The gain channel has a really nice gradual ramp from modern day orange to extremely high gain and downtuned madness via the cut and bite. Still takes a boost like a champ. And I don't think it's overfiltered sounding like I found the Uber Ultra, though again it's definitely modern voiced in the highest gain settings.

It's definitely more low mid focused than deep sub-lows as some others have commented. I find it plenty bass-y though a good 4x12, though I can imagine things feeling on the tighter side with the wrong 2x12. The LCFR sounds great with it but I don't think its required by any stretch.

What I can't overemphasize is just how well designed the controls are. Some amps make you mad trying to dial them in -- constantly teeter-tottering and fighting yourself. The prometheus, similar to the Alta 100, doesn't do that at all. The tweaks feel natural and logical. Highly recommended.
