From an M13 and MOD50 owner:

One of the best things about the M13 is the switching within banks. Since there are 3 "locations" for each engine, it's one click to switch beteen effects in the same bank (eg: to switch quickly between an OD and a distortion does not require turning one off, then the other on - as long as they are in the same bank).

The TC is a great sounding unit with excellent loop options, etc. - but it costs 2.5 times as much as the M13 and is much larger. The Nova is a more comparable unit... TC quality in general is better IMHO. I know guys at both companies, and I went with the M13 for versatility and choice of more effects (no vibe on the Nova).

It really depends on what you're after (do you like the Line6 effects? Are you OK running AC power to the front of the stage? etc...)

If I can find the time next week I'll post pics of the custom snake I use for the m13 to get rid of that #^%@$#! brick in the middle of the power cord... it also powers my wah. Everything (including the Eggie footswitch) fits nicely in a Line6 bag.

So, does the M13 respond to midi changes? Can you change scenes by midi program change?
I might want to try one of these out for gigs but I already use a looper with some pedals that I depend on that are not available in the M13.
So I need to know if I step on say patch 3 on my controller, I get Sl module Channel A on Mod 50, Loop 1 w/ sparkle drive, and delay in Head's loop via rack unit and then I switch to patch 4, will the M13 change as well?

According to the advanced guide, yes. I didn't have mine long enough to figure it out though.

MIDI Control
The M13 will send and receive MIDI CC and Program Change messages on any MIDI
Channel from 1 thru 16 or Omni, selectable from the M13 Setup mode, LCD 4. MIDI
implementation includes MIDI CCs for Looper Control, FX Unit On and Bypass messages,
Tap Tempo, Expression Pedal CCs and Program Change messages for Scene select. It is
therefor possible to control the M13 from a MIDI controller or a computer sequencer.
The most common application would probably be to use a separate MIDI controller to
control the M13 Looper, so that all 12 Scene select switches on the M13 would be available
for individual FX control.
Individual Model selection and assignment for each FX Unit from the 5 different FX groups
is not implemented, but individual FX loaded into the A, B and C memory locations of
all 4 FX Units can be engaged or bypassed via MIDI CCs. The MIDI Reference Tables
in this chapter represent the currenly implemented MIDI spec. A more expanded MIDI
implementation may be forthcoming in future M13 firmware updates.

thanks!

Thanks guys for all the help. I ended up with a TC G system  :D Now i have to figure out how to hook up 2 M4s to it. 1 m4 into rt amp and 2nd m4 into another rt amp. from the looks of the manual i should be able to do it.

does this mean that the M13 will generate midi control info internally, so that it can be used as a midi footcontroller for other midi devices?
