I got free tix to this show and we had decent seats.

Living color kicked ass!
I don't like Vernon Reid's sloppy lead playing at all but his song writing and rhythm playing are really all that matters here.
Muzz Skillings is a MONSTER drummer and Doug Wimbash is a legendary bass player.
These cats are a hard hitting funky af rhythm section.
Vernon played thru some laneys and his tone was meh.

Cory Glover was absolutely ASTOUNDING!
What a voice, and great stage presence - he owned the venue.
They totally killed it and I wouldn't want to go onstage after their short explosive set.

Extreme
Let me preface this by saying I am not a fan but I always like Nuno's playing.
Nuno was playing thru 8 ! 4 x 12's and his tone was top shelf.
He basically gave up his entire trick/lick arsenal in the first 2 songs.

My pal who I went with who has 2 teenage daughters remarked "he dresses like a 12 year old girl"
:ROFLMAO:

The drummer was lame and his mix in the PA was distorted AF and it ruined the overall vibe.
Who cares about the bass player - he looked like a southern rocker from blackfoot or something.

Finally - Cherone
His singing was muffled by the shitty drum mix but he sounded good I guess - hard to tell or really lock in on it.
He prances and dances like a flaming gay ballet LGBQT THEY.
At various points he was literally bending over like he was about to receive a dick - wtf?
I am not at all homophobic and you could call me "woke"but this is rigtalk and i'm gonna call it like I saw it - Gary was a flaming fag on stage.
Gary was so hard to watch YET IT WAS COMEDIC and we left as soon as they broke out the acoustic for what was holeherted.
So were were there for I think 4-5 tunes total.
I am not the right demographic for Extreme so there you have it.

Vernon Reid's social media posts made my head hurt to much to ever listen to him again. I hate hearing dudes cry about racism when they have ascended to the pinnacle of their field. You can have all the success and still have a loser mentality.

I'm sure both bands were phenomenal and I've been listening to Living Colour Since 1988. They have some great songs and opened for the Rolling Stones when they first came out.

Now tell us how you really feel about Freddie Mercury.

I guess it's not your scene and Gary is def. a homo and hard to watch on stage but I actually think the drummer is good and the bass player is a huge part of their songs and harmonies. The whole band jams....and then there's Gary lol. Anyway.

Vernon Reid doesn't even belong in the same venue as Nuno, let alone the same stage.

That’s because Vernon is genius level compared to that punk.
lol sure. Vernon was one of the sloppiest and worst players of the 80s while Nuno went on to have a much more fruitful career and, oh yeah....got to play in the Superbowl halftime show.

Fruitful career? LOL He's a fruit alright. Punk bitch hasn't learned to talk civilly in his 60's. Can't open his mouth without the F-word spewing out.
Living Colours first 2 albums cancel everything that punk-ass bitch ever did. Super Bowl? He never made it on camera. His lead singer was too much of a Faig to last in VH.

Hilarious...this has to be a joke post. Nuno's rythm playing is insane..there is nothing Reid has done that comes close. Lead playing department?? It's not even close.

Let's just settle on Gary is a flaming homo.

Freddie is a god and the og.
Cherone is a wannabe and a 4th rate pretender at best.
I kinda feel sorry for him but he was in the mighty VH so props to him even if he really didn't belong.
Of all the singers they could have picked.....

Yep. I saw the NJ show last week and both bands were fabulous. Corey Glover's voice sounds identical to when the band was in their prime, circa Vivid and Times Up era. I agree about Vernon Reid's guitar solos, they are usually a torrent of fast notes and whammy bar antics. Because of the theaters close proximity to where Sugar Hill Records was located and the fact that Doug Wimbish played bass on a lot of those record, we got a medley of Sugar Hill classics! "White Lines", "Apache" etc.

Extreme was great as well. Nuno is now on my list of all time great guitar players I have seen live. I also need to give the latest album 6 a chance I really liked the new tracks they played, especially "Other Side of the Rainbow." Speaking of "Rainbows" the earlier comments about Cherone's stage antics are spot on.

I can appreciate Nuno’s loyalty to Gary and it may be he truly loves being in a band with him but dollars To donuts I reckon Extreme would have been a lot more of a long time success with a different singer, in sound and attitude. Gary was always the roadblock for me getting into that band. It’s not that his choices seem too gay at all. It’s all about the context he does it. It just doesn’t fit with the band. He’s playing in a funky, heavy rock band but performs like he’s doing an early 70’s cabaret in a NY bathhouse. He could have opened for Bette Midler and Barry Manilow back in the day.
