So I have a good combo the Subway blues Mesa I'm goes well with most pedals I've tried so far. I'm looking for a decent distortion pedal so far I've only tried both Jekyll and Hyde the old version and newer version. I've also tried the Throttle box non Eq I am going to try the Metal muff pedals bother versions the Bogner Uberschall pedal and the EVH 5150 pedal and the blackstar ht metal pedal.
I know that's a ton of pedals I'm going through are there any I'm missing? I'm looking for the most versatile and real feeling pedal thoughts and opinions please.

The Friedman BE-OD just came out within the past few weeks. It's supposed to be pretty great, but I haven't had a chance to try one for myself yet. The 5150 pedal is supposed to be pretty good too.

In my own experience, the most amp-like tone I've gotten from pedals is a Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret stacked with a Tube Screamer in front of it

I'm gonna throw an honorable mention to the Alexander Jubilee Silver Overdrive too. All the clips of it I've heard have been pretty impressive

Friedman BE-OD. Ran mine thru my Mark V clean channel and I had to call my doctor because I still had an erection 4 hours later. It's seriously every bit as good as the reviews it's been getting. Doesn't seem to work great going as just an OD, YMMV. But for a different flavor, it's killer. I've tried the 5150 pedal and Bogner Red, my opinion is the BE and Bogner red are pretty close but I think the BE pedal is a bit more aggressive sounding. Either one, can't go wrong.

The Orange Bax Bangeetar is insane. I don't know if I've ever seen a video demo that captures how brutal this pedal can be. It's different planet high gain or boost powerful. Lots of adjustments, cab sim out, etc. It can go from clean boost to just silly amounts of gain. I've still only figured out 1/4 of what it can do.

I have the BE-OD Ltd. coming in this week, by all reports I know that will be great but I'm interested to see if it has more face melting gain than the Bax Bangeetar.

After playing Rectos for so long every time I try a distortion pedal I never like em. Even the ones people hype up. They just never feel right to me. Guess it depends a lot on what amp your playing them through though.

Had the black star HT for about 2 weeks. Big pedal. Tube driven inside, but I just couldn't bond with it. Honestly, and all these are really subjective to ones ears and the rig it's run thru, but I like the Suhr Riot pedal, it does a good 80's type gain very well, and I also like the Bogner Burnley, which is a flavor all it own but can get some scorching tones and it gives you a lot of options with bass and treble knobs. Just got the BE-OD as well and it is awesome.

It's pretty agresive and more modern voiced. I haven't tweaked the internal trim pot so I'm sure you can get any tone out of it.

You can dial the gain up or down with the internal pot. Have to unscrew the pedal to get it. I think it comes set 1/2 from the factory. I don't even have gain knob, the external one, set to halfway and it's plenty of gain. It still stays articulate at those settings. The bass can be a little woofy depending on how your amp is set. It's eq us very responsive. I highly recommend this pedal.

Can the BE pedal do metallica godsmack tones?

Oh yeah! I love mine and as others have mentioned, haven't adjusted the pot.

Hmmm I guess I need to hear the BE pedal the throttle box is not the best tone but is pretty close to my old dual rectifier 3 channel sounds like the second channel lol you know the one with the fake presence knob jk

Yes the BE OD can do Metal. That's mine thru a Quilter Tone Block.

Damn. I might need this pedal now.

I want to get one and run it with a 44 Magnum.

That's why I bought the Quilter. With this pedal and an incoming Digitech 360 I have a brutal mini rig. It would prolly kill with the Magnum. Anything clean really but not so much with high gain amps. The BE was way too much for my Thrasher FWIW.

200w seems so much better than 44w though. But because of the price factor I would still get the magnum. The idea for me would be home practice and live gigs that I did not feel like lugging my gear to. I know the 44 Magnum can keep up on its own with a band but barely. Having it miked up with a 2x12 would be perfect for an easy carry rig.

I really liked the tone in your video, I guess now it comes down to can I get a better distorted metal tone from the amp tweaker or other various pedals out there.
