Looking For a Small Fly Rig...

I have been using Fractal for a few years now and really liked it. I recently sold my FM9 to try building a small pedalboard fly rig for a second band I am joining. Again, just looking to try something new. It is a corporate/wedding type of band and they require IEMs (which I have) and a small setup. I have a monitor already as well (Atomic CLR). I was thinking about building it around a Friedman IR-J or IR-X. I already have the effects part down. Do I need anything to go with the preamp? I know these boxes have power amp emulation. Would it be worth it to add a small power amp like the Seymour Duncan Powerstage?

Thanks in advance!

Second the Tonex pedal and maybe a Chocolate Midi controller for further controls of parameters or effects. I have seen others with the Tonex paired with a Line 6 Effects processor. Small footprint.

I currently have the Tonex but I route mine through my AXE 3 rig for pre and post effects and then into my stereo Atomic CLR's. Again, I am a basement rockstar and don't play out but with the new editor for Tonex, it is now a really great piece of gear and if you get the right capture you are golden.

Hadn't thought about the Tonex pedal. I'll look at that too. I think the Friedman pedals sound great. Does the Tonex sound as good?

I have the ToneX. It's pretty versatile by it's self.

As far as I can tell most of the better known digital stuff can sound pretty good. For me it's more about does it cover my needs.

I am also planning on picking up a Fryette GPDI IR soon.

There is a lot of options available in the small in portable world.

Synergy SYN-20IR looks interesting.

I just sold my Tonex and today picked up the Friedman IR-D. Wanted something to use as a backup and also a rehearsal/small gig rig. I have a Twin Sister and this thing sounds great and feels perfect under the fingers.

The Tonex had tones in it but damn you had to dig through an awful user experience IMO with IK, plus it is in the end a software company. I had bought a Capture unit as well so after dumping both I was close to the same $ as the Friedman.

That's another thing with the Tonex--capturing your own amps takes a masters degree and even then it takes a ridiculous amount of time.

Huge fan of the Ampero Ampfire. I just bought a backup as Sweetwater is blowing them out at $299

Just need to add my expression pedal...
