Looking for a Wah... WTF do I get?

Fulltone Clyde is OK. I have a modded Vox w/ an RMC1 circuit and it's the best wah I've heard to date. I hear Teese's other wahs are even better though.

I believe Vox has a true by-pass wah. Not sure of the model but if you do some reasearch I'm sure you can find it.

I went to GC and grabbed a 535Q. Sounds good, but I was expecting more  . It may just be that I am not a wah guy.

You may have to get used to playing it. It took me a couple hours. I'm no Kirk Hammet with the Wah! LOL! :D

Pretty damn positive my 535q is true bypass.

I believe the older models (18v) weren't, but the newer models are.

As far as I know the 535 is not true bypass. I'm not familiar with the most recent Dunlop pedals, but Dunlop never had any that were true bypass. The Bad Horsie is not true bypass.
Get yourself the cheapest Vox, Thomas Organ, or Dunlop Crybaby you can find and mod it yourself. If you can handle working on your own amps you can handle the wah mods. There is a lot of wah info online that will get you some nice tones.

i know with my wah that if you don't have a battery in it or plugged in with it in the off postion sound still comes from the guitar amp. Web site says hard wire on/off switch..

I agree with getting a wah that is true bypass...every wah I've tried was a real bad tone sucker when off.
I ended up with the Budda Budwah because it's true bypass and the sweep is not ugly at heel down or toe down, guess I'm not into screechy sounding wahs. It's tamer sounding compared to a crybaby.

I picked up the slash wah awhile ago and I found it to be a great vocal wah. The built in distortion really kicks it, but then again I don't have to much expierence with wah's.

yep, it is. I've got a bad horsie II. true bypass and quiet, but I dont care to much for the voicing of it.

Agree. Had a ban horsie 2 and hated the way it sounded. I am told Vox makes good wahs, but I really only have experience with the standard Dunlop Crybaby, which has served me fine for many years.

I've had a few wahs ... and still the best ones I have ever tried are the old Dunlops I've modded myself . One of the best to this day I've heard was a mid to late 80's Dunlop I modded for Tjpekar ( Tom ) . That thing let you cut like a razor and still have fat warm tone . All I did was the standard tru by pass mod , vocal , and I messed with the bass a bit . I still say he's lucky to get that one back :D

A good way to go IMO would be to grab a older cheap Dunlop off of the Bay or at GC's used bin . ( I recently grabbed a Dunlop JH1 for 30 bucks ) and talk to Jerry about having the most popular variables ( voc , bass , mids etc ) tweakable from the outside of the wah . Trim pots inside are cool but to fool with something on the fly is impossible .
that way you can cover just about any wah mod out there on the fly .
