Looking for Living Room amp

Looking for LR amp that has built in FX and can do decent tones from clean to crunchy to filthy. This vid had a few, some pretty promising. Anyone have these or is there others I should consider? The Joyo 15 has built in drum patterns which is pretty cool.

Have a Spark 40, Vox Pathfinder, and Fender Mustang. I think all have built in/streaming drum patterns, too.
Between them the Mustang sounds the best, the Spark has the most versatility, but sounds the worst even after plugging the front port and swapping speakers. My pathfinder sits somewhere in between them and also can run off of batteries. Would probably recommend the Mustang between these three. That said, a cheap used Boss ME70 or ME80 and any 2 channel amp with a halfway decent speaker is what I would lean toward. 🤷‍♀️

Yeah just need an all in one “easy to make stylishly invisible for the wife” unit. I’ll look into the Mustang series. Maybe GC will have one of those I can check out.

The Katana is pretty good, but have only played the 50w mkII. One of the reasons I recommended one of those Boss all in one pedals is that they have a lot of features, cab sims, and you can also plug headphones into them. See them all the time under $100. IIRC, up to the ME-70 uses the actual analog boss pedals built into the chassis.

Katana, no joke.

I had my Katana 100w head for six mos before I knew it had an internal speaker. I bought it as a backup head for gigs. It's perfect for the living room. I took it to practice last night and, through a 2x12, it easily hung with my bandmate's Bogner Ecstasy.

If you can find one the Tech 21 Trademark 10 is an awesome just hanging around the living room type amp...won’t break the bank and I for sure liked it better than the Katana I had.
I had the bigger brother, the TM30. Sounded great indeed. Only downside was the lack of channel switching. And aside from reverb, no further onboard fx. But for pure, analog, tube like tone, one of the better ones for sure.

Doesn't have built in FX, but I'm currently using a no-name closed back 1x12 with a Mini XTC head hiding behind / underneath an end table by the sofa. Its small and unobtrusive enough to hide in plain sight and be super portable - but it can actually get loud enough with decent enough tone to go to a medium volume rehearsal or practice.

Does it have to be a combo? I've been interested in getting one of these Engl Ironball SE heads for quiet time jamming.

Diezel VHX. I dig mine

Katana, no joke.

I have a Line 6 Catalyst 100, which I think is really good. Line 6 provided a free upgrade firmware to the new CX version, and it's even better. The effects are good, but limited in use...I use a HX-Effects in 4CM with mine.

Much less $ than my Diezel VHX.

Katanas can be had all day in the used market for 100-200. The mobile app and adapter makes it a no brainer, for me.

So many options, signal path flexibility, USB interface, and all the effects one could want. Dual delay, at the same time. More amps to choose from, in the editor.

Also can use the app as a virtual multi controller....oh and it has synths available.

I know it's not the best sound, compared to a tube amp, but, for little expense ..the functionality is insane. Just way more than people realize. If one can't make it sound good, the problem isn't boss.

P.S. it also has the slicer in there ....which is worth the price of admission, for me.

Catalyst has an editor as well, but the number of effects you can use at the same time is limited; adding the HX-Effects which seamlessly integrates in 4CM to control the Catalyst is a great combination. Very versatile and it sounds very good and not just for the price IMO. If I was still gigging and needed a versatile rig, I'd take the Catalyst 100 + HX-FX.

Getting a near complete set of Boss effects is why I have a GX-100, currently using it in 4CM with my DSL40CR. Also plan to use the GX-100 with my JP-2C in 4CM instead of the HX-FX.

But we are talking about a living room practice amp. That can be out of the way, possibly hidden.
To be honest, the katana doesn't even look that bad. It's kind of sharp.

But I will bow out now. Don't want to overtake the thread.
Good luck on your quest, OP!🤘
