Looking to replace the bridge pickup on my Telecaster.....

......I've narrowed it down to the DiMarzio ToneZone, Chopper, Air Norton, and Fast Track.

I'd like to be able to use my Telecaster for hi-gain stuff, with the added ability of coil-tapping to get traditional tele tones.

I don't need it to get SUPER heavy, I don't need super high output....actually most pickups I really like or fairly low output, but they're humbuckers.

Just need something to thicken it up, more of a traditional humbucker sound, and give it more clarity. I do like a nice strong midrange though, and I find this Telecaster to be fairly dark and low end heavy stock. It's an American Special with Texas Specials
Hi, David from Colombia. I just red this entry which describes well my position right now. I know this thread is old, but I’d like to know what pickup did you finally install on your American Special in order to satisfy the “problems” you had with the Texas Special bridge. Thanks in advance!!

I actually just ended up selling the guitar. My tele now was the new ultra noiseless and I love them.

I would say Chopper T or Air Norton as well. Definitely NOT the ToneZone.

FWIW, I have a G&L ASAT Tribute, that came stock with the G&L MFD pickups. They do a nice Tele tone as well as handling high-gain really well.
Heck, the day that Jeff Hannemann died, I played "Angel of Death" as a tribute to him on that Tele and it held its own.
It was more for additional twang and the lipstick look that I installed a Dimarzio Twang King neck in that Tele and it did improve IMHO. The MFD neck was perhaps a bit too bold, modern sounding and the Twang King brought back that missing jangliness.

Echoing other comments here. Had the Chopper T that came with the Kotzen tele. I've got down this rabbit hole, wanting a tele to really work for me in a heavier context without veering so far off the tele course. I was surprised by how mean the Chopper could sound while still feeling like a Telecaster.
