Looking for thoughts on some of the loudest, high gain amps, you guys have played. By loud I also mean amps that stay put together at extreme volumes. I’ll go first with the deliverance 120, Carstens grace, Cameron ccv, some wizards (there seems to be a theme with mercury transformers). What else you got??

Metroplex Serial Number 001 (The one that started it all)

God damn that amp was loud. It was even louder boosting the onboard boost with an SD-1.

The one that takes the cake is my full pentode 180W Mesa Mark III. It’s so loud the master goes straight to band level volumes at 1. There are absolutely no below loud TV volume capabilities. It’s an amp you turn on to turn up, not turn down.

Probably my krank with kt88s or my laney gh100s, both of those turn into completely different beasts with the master up over 10 o’clock, definitely not bedroom amps.

My Bogner Twin Jet was pretty loud. I don't think I ever moved either master or channel volume past 1:00.

The Laney Tony Iommi head without question. Made for stadiums and I had to sell mine after several weeks. I never could practice because 0.1 was too loud.

I’ve played or owned what’s been mentioned so far except the Carstens and some of the ones I’d say would be my iic+ colisuem that started off as a iib (it buried the 3 mark 3++ coli’s I had at the same time), 1997 Blueface VH4, Megalith Beta, and Original version Uberschall. Some of these amps though have so much bottom end that you need the right cab/speakers to handle them at those volumes to not make it overly boomy. Another would be my Schroeder Dozer (plate voltage in the 700’s and close to 300 watts with KT120’s), but it’s not a metal amp

My Hermansson 5 Gain Stage Carlsboro is also up there. It sent my Wizard MTL packing after 6 years of owning it

Mark IIC+ any revision by a mile. I've cranked the shit out of ENGLs, Bogners, Road Kings, Diezels, 5153's, JP2C's, Mark IVs, you name it. Nothing has ever come close to how blisteringly loud a IIC+ can be with the Master Knob at 3. I've tried to crank them higher, even with ear protection in it shakes your skull something awful.

I've had 3 2B Coliseums; the last one was a final preamp 9C version that I had Mike B make into a C+. Sam (Braintheory) has it now. It knocks down birds mid flight. The 2Bs have a slightly beefier power section than the C, C+ or III Coliseums. All are monsters though. SLOs, Wizard MC100, Deliverance 60/120s all punch harder than their power sections suggest. The most surprising one was the C Recto, that amp hits like a freight train. Most Rectos are underpowered, or seem that way since the OT saturates pretty quickly on the master.
The king though, is my 72 Supertremolo. I ran it ABY with the C+ Coli; talk about a foundation shaker lol. But, I could barely hear the Coliseum...I couldn't believe what I was hearing but yes, the plexi buried the Coli. All I could hear was the low end thump. That's when I decided to sell the Coli.
