Can pick this one up for a good price, it's just a regular Gibson USA Standard, not an Historic. I'm usually cool with mineral streaks, this one has some pretty noticeable ones going on. Curious what folks think on this one, yay or nay?

I love character like this. Makes it easy to identify if stolen or you ever sell it and want it back. Also makes it easy for nicknames.

I’ve got streaks all over the back of my 76. It’s a part of the wood.

I had a wine red standard with a crazy mineral streak "birthmark" on the top by the bridge, and I still regret trading that. The top hat I got was rad, but that guitars "flaw" made it look really, really cool.

Thanks guys...beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so all opinions appreciated on this. I lean towards the sentiment it makes it interesting, I think that's why this one grabbed my attention now that I think about it. I've got this one held and will likely go for it.

Looks good and to be in good nick too, so given that you said you'd be getting a good price, I'd go for it man.

I know most peeps would probably prefer a more-reddish hue, but I like the "tobacco burst" thing as well; both have their rightful place IMHO.

Thanks guys...yeah, I've had a number of LP's over the years (which I keep foolishly selling every time I get back on a super strat kick), but the tobacco burst has always been my favorite. That was always my favorite out of all of Ace's guitars as well.

I think it looks cool and I love tobacco bursts. I'd buy it if you plan to keep it and if it plays good, just know (as you already do) that the re-sale value will be hurt by it. With that said, I am not a person that gives a shit about guitar aesthetics..I am tone over looks!

That's the only burst where I can stomach cream colored plastics to match with, otherwise I hate cream plastic.

As far as resale goes, it might be tough to get rid of because of that streak. Without playing it, I would choose a non streaky one with picture proof..

Edit: just saw this guy said the same thing lol ^

Sorry, but mineral streaky is almost inexistent on this one.
It looks more as barbecue burst...

School me. What is a mineral streak?
It is some wood pattern which is very common in the vintages one.
They are some darker veins at the top.
