NAD C+ DRG

The SG++ is nothing to sneer at but I have seen it happen around here before. Odd.

It is worth it whether I use it or not. Just to have more than enough gain is worth it.

I love high gain and for most of my life I used a boost or gain pedal with a Marshall. I still have a Marshall modded by Dave Hopkins and it slays but the Boogie is everything and then some. The SRG was really raw and uncompressed. I always wondered how it would've sounded ++. I traded the SRG for the DG++ thinking that I made out better.

"Some people, some people like cupcakes. I prefer muffins."

Nice score! The DRG was my favorite out of the IIC+'s just for the Cleans. Nothing like that combo of 6L6 and EL34. SRG has loads of aggression and sizzle, but the DRG cleans are to die for.

Nice!
I see that Mesa are now using IC caps. Are they good now? They used to have a bad rep.

This is from Mike - ***Note that the U S made blue caps are long gone, lucky we did replace the big main 1st section ones in '07, they're fine.
The 4 pcs. of 30 mf 500volt will need to be the Illinois Brand and they are from Taiwan. Been using many of this brand for years with good results though...

If I had known about this before hand, I would've scoured the web for ideal caps, He also changed out some smaller stuff, he sent the old stuff back in a bag.

The amp is dead silent when the guitar volume is turned down at super high gain. Then when I pull the volume up on the guitar volume knob it is tear your head off! I've just begun to experiment with different guitars. I want to post a clear definitive video so I'm working on what to play and how to show the different tones possible.

The clean channel with the ++ engaged on class A el34's is something I didn't even consider! Somewhat like ch.2 on a Mark IVa. Very M'ish IMO.

Fucking thing RIPS!

Oh, and it doesn't squeal with it all knobs @ 10 turned up and no guitar plugged in.

Obviously, you didn't opt for the RI Oscillating mod:

Fryette said Illinois Caps are fine.
Is that Amp Simul-Class?
Are you going to run it with EL34s and 6L6s in Simul??

Still no Pots for the Bias..
Boogie never big on warm Bias..

Simpler Amp, less components and not all mused together like a modern Boogie..
There's no way it doesn't sound better than a new version..

Yes, Simul-class and 6L6 & el34. I bought the tubes from Mike, the best he had, 415's and the best el34's.

I apologize for the derail. Which Hopkins mod do you have? Mine is a Pandora and I love it. However, it's time for a retube, and to check the caps on a 20 year old amp. Getting ready to send it to him for service.

Cool. It should have good mids.
Did he say anything about the Bias??
I'm curious as to what percentage dissipation the Tubes are running if you have a way to check.

Weird how that happens. Bought a ‘59 Les Paul Reissue from a shop overseas after my Dad died. I opened the case and the serial number is 9 13**. His birthday was September 13.

Now I’ve just bought a Bogner 101B from @Catthan. Got it home and realised the serial number is 061947. My Dad was born in 1947.
Just please run if you see Nicolas Cage.
