Man, that really sucks - I've had small things stolen and was bummed out - I can't imagine how he must feel. On the other hand though, I am puzzled by the "well nothing was happening so I stopped the insurance" thing- he seems to have missed the concept. I think he said it was 2k a year, I think he also said he was picking up one or two guitars a year - 2k was probably only a fraction of that.

I have a collection no where near that but stopped posting new amp day stuff on FB a while back cause NO one locally has a Friedman BE deluxe 100w head or a Slo 100 or an R9 ect.

I do need to do a video of my gear for insurance purposes, but I can't seem to stop flipping gear. :geek:

My second electric was a red Ibanez Blazer (I think) Strat that I had added a black guard and a Double Eagle tremolo (Floyd rip off). Inspired by Brad Gillis' red Strat. I was moving and opened up a storage space and the first things in were that guitar and my Dad's old Yammi gut string...that I first learned to play on. Made a trip, came back to load up the space and...gonzo. I was crushed...I can't even imagine how this guy must feel.

I saw this news article a few months ago and noticed that it was someone from northern California. I didn't know who Robbie Z was until after the guitar theft article in the news. To have a guitar collection the size of what guitarist/producer Robbie Z owned is huge. Having the space to put all of those guitars would have taken up a garage in a regular house. I believe that he went through a divorce, moved the guitars out of the house into storage, stopped paying insurance on the guitar collection, and somehow someone knew where he stored his guitar collection, and what storage facility it was. The fact that someone steals from anyone is a shame and I hope that Rob Z is able to recover the stolen instruments & find out who the thief was.

I hate thieves too, but it’s not like he was using them. They were just tokens of his greed.
I know that everyone on this forum is entitled to their opinions, but typing this remark is mean spirited, hateful, and maybe envious of someone who has worked hard on putting together an instrument collection of high value. Being a victim of guitar theft, one from a vehicle break in, the other from a so called "friend", made me feel disheartened/frustrated/angry. Maybe when someone steals something of value from you, you will experience the loss/frustration/anger that being a victim of theft will feel?

What a asshole thing to say!! So let someone go your home. Steal your Peavey.
No Pelican just give away your house, ya know share the wealth. How dare you have a house and not share it with some scumbag free loader.

Obviously when my 1977 Les Paul custom got stolen out of my bands tour van in Moses Lake, WA, I wasn't using it at the time, so it was just a token of my greed.

My greed that involved scrimping, saving, working summers in orchards, my graduation money gifts from family, and dreaming my entire life of owning a Gibson Les Paul custom.

It's a good thing it went to some crackhead who deserved it way more; they were probably a disadvantaged POC who my ancestors wronged in some nebulous way.

You're right, @Pelican

If only we were all as fucking virtuous as you!

Sorry I couldn't resist ?

But yeah. No way would I leave that gear in a storage locker. If the guy had that much money. Toss it in a back bedroom. Or attic.

He said his wife took him for everything in their divorce except his guitar collection. He had nowhere to put them. So he put them in storage. Sad all around.

Man what a horrible story, I bet he fell to pieces, I know I would have. I couldn’t even watch the whole thing, made me cringe.

I normally could care less about someone’s trolling comments, but what a shitty thing for shitbird to say, it’s just a product of shitty parents raising shitty kids…

I’ve been in the divorce thing at that point. Had 45 guitars at that moment. All high end. I felt helpless. Tossed em all in one room. But only had 3 amp heads. Man I had cool stuff.
Feel bad for the dude.

I have a lot of guitars and amps. They are stored at 4 houses (3 of which are owned by members on this board) and one storage unit.
They are broken up in chunks so that I won't loose big-time if one place goes down in flames.
Plus I'd need a huge room to put all those amps and cabs in...someplace far away from society to crank them up.
