I just like how roasted maple necks look and feel when they’re unfinished, haven’t really noticed anything different as far as stability or anything else. I’ve got three roasted maple necks from Warmoth. Had to drill them out for tuners, didn’t have any problems. They do say to drill the holes slightly larger than if it was a regular maple neck to help prevent cracking. I love the feel of an unfinished neck, I’ll never do another partscaster build with anything else!

I would like to start a discussion of non vs maple necks that have been roasted. Is there anyone here that has a strong preference one way or another?

I have both, and they feels different for me.

My luthier build strat with roasted flame maple neck/ rosewood freatboard is paired with one pc swamp ash body. Its perfect combination, crazy resonant.

My second luthier build Non roasted maple neck/rosewood fingeroard is paired with 2 pc lightweight alder body. This neck feels not as sharp attack compared to roasted.

Roasted neck are faster with harder attack according my experience.
