Agreed. Always does great vids with excellent tone but the swing and timing just isn't there for the VH stuff. That's prob the hardest part about the whole EVH thing.... his timing in addition to his phrasing choices at times. Good times though!

I never said I could play like VH and that's why I put VH'esque in the title, lol. I know two guys that really pulled it off well, Mark Abrahamian (Rockstah) and Al Estrada.

I did my best and I'm having a blast, sort of, lol.
I understand that VH posts get very, well interesting.

I'm lucky, I've played a couple of his actual guitars, stood in 5150, been at a private rehearsal in Mates and met and spoke to him.
Unfortunately none of his skills transferred over to my hands. Oh well, I will always practice to try to improve

I think I can pull off VH stuff pretty good. This was made with the Guitar Hero backing tracks so there is ZERO of EVH's guitar on the backing, just vox, drums and bass. The guitar is me:

I'm sorry if my comment sounded bad. As I said, I hear very few people play that song with the right feel, and when it isn't played with the right feel, it sounds rather lifeless to me.

As I said, I think you are a very good player and cover some stuff VERY well. Stuff I could NEVER do, frankly. You also get very nice tones on your clips. I'm a fan of what you do, I just don't think you cover the swingy VH stuff well, which as I said, very few people do, and I'm a stickler on that based on my own interests and influence as a guitarist.

I was more speaking to kapo as you have posted plenty of your playing here for people to know you can play, I have not been around here for too long though and maybe kapo has posted his playing on here but I don't recall it. I'm sure he can play, and probably has posted up, but a whole lot of guys here who regularly post that they are GIGGING guitarists never, EVER let us hear any of there stuff and some are quite outspoken critics although that has nothing to do with this thread.

I can't play it either. Whatever, it is a guitar forum, we don't always have to suck each other's d_cks. Besides, Mark is a great player and has great tone and does cool vids. That's praise enough isn't it? We are just making observations because we have nothing else to do with our lives the 25 minutes we check this forum every day.

Nope I just wank like everyone else on here and don't post clips because i am not happy with any of it. I can play lead but I suck at VH. Don't have the feel. I would be more a Randy Rhoads type of guy. I find his stuff easier to cop overall. Feel is such a huge part of a guitar player's style. Often overlooked for the scales they use or the tricks they use.

I don't get why honest criticism is sometimes so negatively responded to. Unless you are personally attacking someone's appearance, saying their kids are stupid, etc., I don't see why it's a problem for folks. When I post something I'd rather hear some honest criticism than people saying it's great and them PMing each other how it sucked, but I guess that's just me. How are you gonna improve, unless someone else points out things that perhaps you don't see/hear?

I need to get a life I seem to spend a couple hrs a day lurking here and still manage to find time to play guitar for a couple hrs a day!
