Sounds great! I want an Axe-FX so bad. I'm playing with Amplitube now, and getting some really good sounds. Nothing like this though!

I think that tone could benefit from a touch less gain, and a bit of 'verb, but that's just me.

Whatever, it is a guitar forum, we don't always have to suck each other's d_cks.
Sometimes I feel like we do or else someone will get riled up.... :gethim:

I don't get why honest criticism is sometimes so negatively responded to. Unless you are personally attacking someone's appearance, saying their kids are stupid, etc., I don't see why it's a problem for folks. When I post something I'd rather hear some honest criticism than people saying it's great and them PMing each other how it sucked, but I guess that's just me. How are you gonna improve, unless someone else points out things that perhaps you don't see/hear?

+1000

If you and Rupe didn't tell me to work on my right hand technique and slow down, I wouldn't be the player I am today.

People are afraid of being blunt and direct.

Careful! That sounds like criticism... :gethim:

I remember playing through a Dirty Shirley(low input channel) at work at ToneMerchants and Rob said "what boost are you using?" None was my reply, he said "Shit you have gain in your fingers"

In the preset I used a 1959 SLP with the gains backed off to 2 o'clock. Bit of reverb? I'm thinking that must be sarcasm because there is tons of Reverb on the right side?

I have opinions about clips here too......and that is how far it goes.

[I think I can pull off VH stuff pretty good. This was made with the Guitar Hero backing tracks so there is ZERO of EVH's guitar on the backing, just vox, drums and bass. The guitar is me:

Awesome Romeo Delight! Killer tone too!

Thanks man! Coincidentally, this is the AxeFX Ultra. I used the stock "Brown Sound" preset with a minor mod I made and no cab sim direct into my recording system. I used a Redwirez Marshall Basketweave IR in Logic for the cab... I used this guitar I made from parts, which has an EVH Frankenstein pickup:

Huh... I would think people would appreciate getting the benefit of your knowledge and experience by hearing what you really think, otherwise what is the point of posting clips in the first place?

Sweet looking parts guitar! Love the flamed neck and attention to (insane) details! Those AxeFX simulators are getting better and better sounding!

Great tone and playing mark!

I'm lucky, I've played a couple of his actual guitars, stood in 5150, been at a private rehearsal in Mates and met and spoke to him.

Mark

I think your stuff is great!

Please tell us what was the action like on his guitars, high, low, medium? General thoughts on the setup he prefers? Just curious.

Yeah I don't get it. You can be constructive with your criticism and not be dick like I am. :D

You guys can have your VH and AxeFx, the only thing that matters in Mr. Day's hands is that Alex Lifeson LP. That's the only legal way to have a trem on an LP.

Actually, I recant my statement about VH and the Axe too.

The problem is we no longer have barzini to swoop in when the bro love worship gets too strong and start handing out his pimp hand whoopin's.

I wasn't exactly immune from it either. A couple of guys mentioned my CD wasn't the worst thing they ever heard and barzini swooped in and showed me that the CD made a good coaster.

Well he said the Romeo Delight clip is from the Axe Ultra so that has to be at least 4 year old firmware because that's when the Ultra stopped being updated & the Axe2 came out. So it shows you the AxeFx was great from years ago

Yup, it was for sure. I think that was firmware version 10...

I've since moved on to the Kemper, which is just mind-blowing, but I was happy with and enjoyed the ultra. Here's another VH clip from the same preset and the guitar above. Once again, no Ed guitar in the backing, all my guitar:

Mark is a really good player and gets some really nice sounds, but EVH is just not his bag. He just doesn't have that swing on I'm The One at all and it takes the life out of the guitar part... I hear very few people who can play it with that EVH feel/swing though, so there's no shame in this for sure...

Steve

When Steve has a critique on anything I do, I listen! Period! He has great ears and he is a certified VH connoisseur! I want people to be brutally honest when I post clips so I can improve my playing and tone.
