Mark iic+ comparison by Ola

Hard to say which the best by a vídeo since you are not in the room to hear the live diferences and the bottom end.

I wish I could compare my 3++green stripe to a 2c++ . My 3++ destroyed my 2c+ and mark 4 . But I’ve never got to play it again a 2++

Funny you mention that… been looking for a ++ 3, but now people are trying to get over 3 k for those too lol. Not worth it.

It is imo . It’s the most agressive mark . It made me sell my others . I had every mark but a mk 1 . Now I should have kept the others as invests lol . But mark 3 Keeps going up so grab the first deal you can

I’m in the mindset that gear is going to go down in price pretty quick soon here with everything that’s going on… but we’ll see! Luckily my job I never have to really worry about security.

Think they all sound kind of equal which is not very good in this vid :dunno: Still not understanding using that sE mic which I’m going to blame, the petrucci vid sounded like shit, his mark vll demo sounded kind of unflattering and now this doesn’t sound very good to me, and I usually love Ola’s mesa tones

I thought they all sounded super similar. I'd say the Mark VII and 2C+ were very close and the JP was the most "different" but still within reason.

Mesa is dropping the ball by not making a 2C+ reissue amp based off of the circuit from the Mark VII. Even though some of the purists would likely shit all over it, I'm fairly certain it would be a hit.

I’d buy it lol. Spending 10-12k for a mark iic+, eff that.

Real + sounded the best. More open more oomph. Small but there
Totally! Like, I said I really think it comes down to modern amps being more compressed. Even notice this with my rev e rectifier vs the multi watt micing them up with an sm57. Can literally see it in the waveform. The rev e is spikey all over the place with dynamics, multi watt… more dynamics than most modern amps, but for the most part a solid block.

Edit: even zooming in on this video you can see the difference in waveforms lol. Mark iic+ more spikey everywhere.

If I hadn't been told these sounds were coming from different amps and I just heard them on a record or something, I'd have zero idea they were different amps.

Watching the video and looking at the stems as they turned on and off, I could hear that the JP2C was dialed in with a VERY SLIGHT bit more subharmonic bass than the other amps. Just enough to be slightly perceptible but no more. There might have also been extremely slight differences in the way the low end from the guitar compresses and clips in each amp, so in other words microscopic differences in tightness, but again, almost imperceptible, especially if you hadn't been told there were differences you should be listening for in the first place.

All three amps do "that sound" just as well as the others.

Yeah something about the III as a base has a much more immediate and stiffer feel, which made it more aggressive than the C+ I had, which was soft and sorta bouncy in comparison. They both largely sounded the same as far as I was concerned but I don't claim to be an expert and apparently have shit for ears because I always preferred using a 6505+ to either one.

The bounce is what makes the iic+ great

Everyone is just different . 6505+ great amp too , literally ALL the amps we talk about can be awesome if set up right .

It is cool . I just needed more immediate attack and agression . Green stripe ++ does that . So many flavors they all good though. I just kept the one I liked best . But like I said should have kept them all at these prices now

Yeah, honestly the 5150/6505 has been on so many records. They’re great sounding amps. Especially when people don’t turn the mids up past 3, and ruin it lol. Only reason I don’t have one in my collection is their reliability.

My only regret is that I just wish I'd put them into a closest for a few years before selling them. Still have that 6505+ yay me

I might have to go that route then… I know I like aggressive shit like you do.
