what are you opinions?
i own a fireball, but mark IV caught my atention.I never played through one.

They both suck.

Move along, nothing to see here.

Both amps are great and can get pretty much any tone you want. I am of the opinion that you can get them to sound very similar after much A/Bing (have owned both at the same time).

I really don't think you can go wrong with either... the IV has more to fiddle with to get your tone, which can be a bit intimidating at first, but after you understand how the amp works ( READ THE MANUAL....READ THE MANUAL AGAIN..... OK< NOW READ IT AGAIN!!!), it is pretty easy to get what you want from it.

The Blackmore is more plug and play, btu don't let the simpl.e control layout fool you.... there are a TON of different tones in there.

Both can get as mellopw or heavy as you could ever want.

A fireball & mark IV can sound similar when scooped, but the mark IV really can nail the and justice for all sound, were as the fireball cant even come close. In other words they can sound the same scooped, or totally different.

The mark IV has infintly more mids, more tone, more feel, and sag is there IF you chose. In my opinon the fireball is a good amp, but it really only sounds good for death metal in my opinon. The mark IV totally owns the fireball in my humble opinon, it can do everything very well.

I disagree, because i don't dig death at all,and I've nailed some great mid gain tight sounds out of it.

My exact question would be,what settings should I dial in to make it sound similar to Mark IV.
Little complex question i believe :?

I'd say MarkIV for sure. The fireball is a nice amp, but the Mark IV is just more versitle.

MKIV is more versatile, but for what I play, the Fireball kills it with ease.

never played a Fireball, but in july, i had the opportunity to, in one night, play an Engl Savage 120, a Mesa MkIII, a Mesa MkIV, and a Mesa Single Rec. basically side by side, with 3 different cabs. i liked the Savage best (which is why i bought one....should be here tomorrow!!!), but i wouldn't mind having a MkIV either....pretty much all sick amps.

if i could get both for the same price, I would get the mark 4 (unless i played downtuned metal). The mark series have such a good lead tone that its impossible to explain. Fireball wins for being brutal though.

Anyone want to trade their Mark IV for my Fireball? :D

I'm serious.

I have a mark IV and used to own a fireball. The mark IV for me is a much better amp, less compressed, much more versatile.

The Fireball has an awesome modern metal distortion, the clean was a bit sterile and the mid gain sounds were okay, but not great.

For the Old school Metal, Alternative, Classic Rock that I play mainly the mark IV just works better for me. If I was in a metal band though I would seriously consider a fireball.

Never owned a Mark IV, though I did have a mode in the two Mark V:25s that I had. Sounded pretty good, but I wouldn't compare that to the big iron amp, which is probably a lot better.

I do own a Fireball 100 though, it's a pretty sick amp for extremely high gain tones. As another poster said, it's a near perfect death metal amplifier and the low end is monstrous.

However, one thing to keep in mind is that channel 1 and 2 share the same EQ, so there will be compromises if you need a great clean tone AND a great rhythm tone.

But it's really brutal, a really sick amplifier regardless.

The only other complaint I've read online is that they get buried in a. mix. I haven't experienced that myself. This is a recorded tone I copped by running the Fireball into an Orange 2x12 with Celestion V30s.
