I looooove OD2 for modern heavy stuff and OD1 for more classic stuff although it can easily attain the brootz as well.

My settings for a high gain heavy as fuck rhythm tone (all clock face style):

OD2 Orange NO BOOST (never have needed it with this amp)
Gain 11, Bass 1, Mids 12, Treble 11
Resonance 12, Presence 9

For a nice thick mid gain rock tone I dig Crunch Red:

Gain 12, Bass 1, Mids 1, Treble 12

I use Clean Green for cleans and have tons of headroom even with my BKP Painkillers and Warpigs.

I use it through my Fatbottom straight 412s loaded with V30s or my Marshall 1960BVs with V30s and it kills.

Ummm... is it just me? Cause I'm thinking there is no Orange mode on a JVM? Just Green, Yellow & Red?

Yup, it's just you.

Obviously we are talking about the same mode, I have never heard it referred to as yellow though and I have had my JVM for 4 years. :dunno:

Potato, potahto.

edit: Marshall actually refers to it as the orange mode...yellow, orange, whateverthefuck, it kills!

Actually I've also seen it referred to as "amber" mode ;)

Being used to Bogner, Diezels and my Nitro, I would have liked a little more low-end, but that's splitting hairs. It's a great all around amp.

And this...
This is my only complaint about the JVM, and why I might sell mine. I'm running it through my MB 2x12 so I might have to try a legit 4x12 before dumping this jewel.

I really like mine. It has the Mercury Magnetics choke and OT mod. I recently had a new one with the "stiff knobs" :D and they were pretty similar. The head with the MM upgrades has more low end that stays tighter and doesn't seem quite as noisy as a new stock JVM. It's not a huge difference but definitely noticeable. The upgrades are worth it if you really like the amp but wish it was a tad tighter with more thump. They won't transform the amp into something it's not though. Same amp but just slightly "better" to my ears.

The best example of tightness I can give is with the stock JVM I liked to boost OD1 and OD2 to get the desired low end thump and tightness out of it. The upgraded JVM stays tight enough when you up the res or bass so a boost isn't needed as much. It still sounds REAL good boosting the upgraded JVM though. :D

I'm surprised so many are saying how good the JVM is. I remember reading just a few days ago about how people hated the JVM... I swear, the JVM must be the new recto or something. It's either love or hate.

Hate for teh JVM?

IMO That's most likley a side effect from being addicted to suppositories ...

I liked the JVM410H I had, it's a great amp for what they go for used. I only got rid of mine because GAS got the better of me.
