Marshall on a Diezel!

Said this before in a different thread, will say it again. Stop buying 'today's' amps to get a 'yesterday's' tone. Enjoy the beauty and spectrum today's amazingly well engineered heads offer the musician TODAY. If ya want that blessed oh-so-sought-after 'plexi' tone, buy a shitkicked non-master Marshie and get at 'er. I've had the, um, 'pleasure' of playing a non-master Marshie back in the early 80's, the head itself was a mid 70's head. It sounded fine - when it was playing. It was brutally loud, rang feedback out the wahzooo, hissed like a snake, fizzled and popped like a Dr. Pepper, but yes, sounded just great when it was actually being played. HIGHLY LIMITED in its sonic range.

Would I ever give up my Diezels, Bogners, Fuchs, Cornfords, or the like for a Marshall plexi...?? NOT A CHANCE. I might buy an old shitkicker in the years to come, but I am SO done with that tone, I want fresh.

My rant for the day,
V.

Exactly....
I get all my "Marshall" fixes from the Diezel.
Channel 2....gain cranked....boost. Done...there is Marshall tone.
I have owned several Marshalls.....and this is pretty damn close. But I like it better since i can push a button and have HEAVY GAIN right at my fingertips all in the same amp. :D

no one said give up anything just add more! i run two heads ab or y thru rg16 thats what im about. my vh4 is in my small rig w/gsp1101... yes ch2 does a nice marsally kinda tone

I wouldnt mind grabbing another Marshall one day......
they do have their own thing going on. But I really wanted to whittle down the rig to just one amp.....so .....hard....must resist....

You know, there's probably a micro thread out there somewhere with a bunch of mincing GAS'ers who all OWN 70's vintage, non-MV Marshalls going off about which series of SERIAL NUMBERS offers the TRUE PLEXI tone of all the pseudo PLEXI TONE WANNABE'S from the Marshall Plexi roster. Like, the GRILL CLOTH with the yellowed nylon weaving offers a more authentic PLEXI TONE than the gold nylon threading. Secondly, the older real rubber feet on the cabs is superior to the composite feet.

Aaaaaaak!! I AM SO DONE WITH PLEXI.... I LOATHE PLEXI..!!!! BUY A F*CKIN MARSHALL IF YOU WANT A PLEXI TONED AMP!!!!! SIMPLE!!!!!!!
:bash:  :bash:  V.

Your right.....Guitarists are a WEIRD GROUP. We had this discussion about a month back at the local music store. No one else says...."There is too much middle mids in the mids".....like a guitarist!

...my Splawns always sounded damn good. Musta been those Basson cabs u were using

yeah, every quickrod i played ripped! best marshall copy on the market in my opinion.

A Wood

I have to agree with Andy and Pauly...I will keep my Quickrod around for those times when that is the tone I want/need. Would I trade my Herbert or VH4S for it? NO! However, they do have their place and as Andy said, they rip! I seem to have a place in my brain that every so often needs to plug in the Quickrod...feel the Van Halen, etc...

It will not/could not replace any Diezel though, no comparison...different animal. Good luck with the emulating OP, keep us posted if you get the "perfect" tone

...I love my JVM..
Everytime i want that old school Vai tone, or a super forgiving feel, i plug into that puppy and the notes fly off the fretboard with ease. :)

But also love that TRANSPARENT tone that allows you to hear each note in a run or sweep in my DIEZELS

wow! wonderful sound marshaly or diezelly doesn't matter in this case :)

ch2 - or +?
gain?

thanx!
every time i listen to your samples i want to turn the amp on ;)
