BTW the guv'nor to me sounds best as a boost in front of a Marshall like Gary Moore used it.. but that said, Klon type is still going to beat it up front turning a Marshall into a fire breather.

I had the Guv'nor pedal (but the silver one) and always really liked it. It was stolen some years ago at a gig. $249 seems a bit high to me for a re-issue...but I will check them out if I see one in the wild.
Quite a difference between the old black one (which had 2 versions; Made in England and Made in Korea) and then the silver Guv'nor II's.
I have a near mint in original box MiE one, that I would only sell for stupid money, but there's a guy locally selling one for $280 and it's kinda funny since that's right on the cusp of this re-issue now.
Also, I hope they improved the switch and the little fx-loop. Those were the dodgy parts, if I recall correctly.

There are quite a few improved Guvnor and Bluesbreaker circuit based pedals out there for less than $250. I agree they should have released these 10 years ago.

The guys at Andertons said they sourced every part from the original manufacturer with the exception of two. Damn if I can remember which two but they got the equivalent part from somewhere else.

I had a Guvnor back in the 80s when they came out. Great pedal. I gave it to a buddy thinking I wouldn't miss it. Wrong. I think I'll get a replacement.
Jacks and pots.

I found a dealer with the DriveMasters in stocks, so I ordered one. It's essentially a Guv'nor, minus the FX loop.

Had an original when they came out. They weren’t anything special

Supposedly, Don Dokken’s Up From The Ashes is a Guv’nor into an SLO Normal channel (among other amps on the record, Don’s ‘69 Lee Jackson Marshall, Norum’s HiWatt that was stolen and a few Jose Marshalls), but the Live from Osaka ‘91 concert is all Guv’nor and SLO according to Billy White recently, which is also how Gary Moore used his SLO.

Yea I had an original Guv'Nor I deeply regret selling years ago but I did get quite a bit of money for it!

I never like it years ago but I also thought dod stuff sounded ok. I’d like to try it again

I always liked this one. Sounded like a Guv'nor and more versatile

Wilson does good stuff.
I believe the Suhr Riot, MI Crunchbox and JHS Angry Charlie are also takes on the Guv'nor.
I used to use a Angry Timmons in front of a crunchy plexi type amp for rocking rhythm tones, then punch it with a Timmy for leads.
Sounded great in a band setting for anything rock/metal.
