Maybe This Guy Should Just Keep His Amp!!

Ask him if he wouldn't mind hand delivering it 4 states away over 500 miles to avoid shipping. Of course seller pays for the gas and if it doesn't sound like EVH when you test it out then he needs to take it back home.

As someone who lives in the Carolinas, I can attest to the fact that people want gear shipped all the time, that's available for local pickup only (& priced accordingly) but specifying once in the ad would have been sufficient.

That's close enough to me, it's very tempting.

It’s killer looking rig.
Wonder if the dudes a Marine

It might not be a good idea to mess with the guy because it sounds like he's on the verge of going postal.
I see what you did there.

I wouldn’t want to ship a 4x12 either.
Funny thing is. He doesn't even mention the 4x12. At first I was thinking $1500 is not too bad for a minty looking Splawn Competition. Then I was like, that is a great deal if it includes the 4x12. It seems to include the 4x12. But then he says over and over again that HE WILL NOT SHIP THE HEAD.

So someone should ping him and say they can get a local friend to pick up the head locally, but he has a small car so the 4x12 will need to be shipped

Don't blame him, the only thing I'll sell/ship is pedals anymore. Not even close to worth the effort to me. I'll wait or I won't sell, it's not like I buy shit and luckily I don't 'need' the money. Online commerce nowadays has the deck stacked against the seller always

I don’t see the problem. Dude is crystal clear, which is better than some ad saying the item is mint, then you get it home, and there’s a crack in it.

That is a good deal . See it's amazing to me that people poke fun at this guy because he doesn't want to ship it. There's tons of listings like this everywhere but you'll always have some dipshit that asks you if you'll ship something . I'm sure he wants to sell it but doesn't want to deal with all the scenarios that can go sideways shipping an amp and a cabinet .

He might actually be smarter than we think.

Well, there's always that one asshole that says, "I know you said no trades, but would you consider a crybaby pedal, Digitech Grunge Distortion, a Ibanez Gio, (with BRAND NEW strap) and FREE cable for your $1500 amp?

I'm sure he's frustrated because people tend to window shop and fail to read and/or comprehend.

I have sold plenty heads and cabs but never shipped them. Enough guitar players interested that live around. Seems that most guys making fun of this ad live in an area where the next guitar player lives 1000 miles away...🤔

I dunno. I dont “get” listing an amp on a site like reverb when u wont ship.

I wonder if he’ll allow a friend or family member to ship it for him? He didn’t exactly say the amp CAN’T be shipped, just that he won’t be the one shipping it. :dunno:

Apparently we have someone locally that’s offering sellers a Nintendo Switch in trade for their gear, last week 3-4 listings showed up from different people and all said something along the lines of “No, I don’t want your Nintendo Switch”, “A Nintendo Switch is NOT a fair trade for this amp”, “Please don’t ask me to trade for a Nintendo Switch”. :ROFLMAO:

Since I live in Toronto and cant pickup, I wonder if he'll ship to Toronto. :p. LOL

This is currently driving me nuts, but I'm trying to handle it cordially. I had a list of very specific trades in my listing. I have about a dozen messages in my TGP and Reverb inbox asking if I'd trade for stuff that's not on my list. I look and the stuff is listed for twice what mine is. Yeah. I want to give you my item and $2000 for a guitar I never asked for. Then they ghost me as if they were never interested in my item at all.. I just don't get it.

Ha ha ha! I was wondering if anyone was going to get the pun. Yeah, I doubt he's including the cab. I certainly wouldn't try to ship a 4x12 cab unless someone pays about $50 more than it costs to ship it.

Yeah but there are also a lot of people who start out with certain conditions and then revise them later. You see a lot of guys on the forums being very adamant about certain things but then when their gear doesn't sell for a few weeks, they open it up for trades, lower price, etc. As far as the quality of gear people offer, I think they should know better. In fact, some offers actually seem insulting. Yet, there are some people who paid top dollar for their Peavy 6505+, think it's so great that everyone should love it, and have that mindset when negotiating.

That's why I think it's not good to react to what people say and be more patient. There have actually been a few times when someone would make me a lousy offer but then find out they have a really nice piece of gear and end up making a great trade. There are also a lot of newbs or people who don't have any experience buying/trading gear so they genuinely don't know. I don't think it's reasonable to get irritated with them. In fact, they're sometimes very appreciative if you inform them correctly. It pays off to be more circumspect.

I have the same thing. State in the ad, local pickup; not selling individual components. Get asked if I will ship or sell something separate. I just ignore it.

I'm not a business with a shipping department, shipping it would be ridiculous and damage is likely given the size and weight; and if I sell one component separate, I can't use the rest. Sorry not sorry. All or Nothing.

All or Nothing

That irritates the fuck out of me. Someone offers you a trade, and wants you to throw in $2k for a brand you've never heard of. That's TGP for you...

I like when you're selling a 2x12 and they ask if you sell one of the speakers. Yeah. I'd be all over that.. Leave me with a 2x12 with a speaker missing.

I've had people ask me if I'd be willing to sell the locking tuners off a guitar I had for sale.
