Any thoughts on the Marshall Vintage, Nolly?

Great useful info, Nolly. Thanks for posting.

Good question, I have a few of those but all are from the early 90s. They're really bright but then all of the V30s from that era are so it's tough to say. I believe that they are the same speaker as the regular T3903/3904s, with the separate T-number being required because of the plain speaker frame and different sticker. One thing I do know is that when Celestion provides OEM speakers to Marshall they earmark batches that have come out on the brighter end of the tolerance (I believe they do the opposite for Orange, btw).
To mention impedance again, one of the major factors that affects people's thoughts about Marshall vs. Mesa 4x12s with Marshall Vintage/V30s in both is that Marshall use 16 ohm speakers vs the Mesa's 8 ohms.

P.S. If you ever come across a Hughes and Kettner OEM V30 (T5225/T5273) - especially a 16ohm one - I'd urge you to run a mile. They've got the 1777 lead cone and are horrendously bright sounding.

Whats nutty is that not only do you have all these variances from different years of production there is another thing worth mentioning. If you buy a quad of the same speakers at the same time and load them in a 4x12 , mic them up you will notice each one sounds at least slightly different from the other. Speakers are unfortunately inconsistent.
