I have always wanted a dual rectifier in the collection. Found a single rec on the cheap and I'm about to pull the trigger on it.

Any advice, complaints etc about this one. Never seen or heard on in person before. Can it do the trademark rec roar or will I need the extra wattage of the dual. Will I actuallly miss ot having the tube rectifiers or the other channel, orange I think.

It doesnt sound nearly as aggresive as the dual or triple rec, and not having rectifier tubes is kinda dissapointing, since rectifier tubes sound good for other applications in music. its "flubbier" and "spongier"

I'm on the lookout for one of these too. I will be looking for a Series II though for the added raw voicing and bias select. The Single still has that modern recto roar, just won't have the headroom of it's bigger brothers. I boost these amps so aggressiveness is always adjustable.

Yep, make sure it's series II if you like to experiment with EL34 vs. 6L6

great amp, I had a rectoverb a while back, but I don't think it nails that Dual/Triple recto sound. I attribute that to the lack of Rectifier tubes and the bold/spongy switch.

If you're going for THAT recto tone, look else where. But if you're looking for a great 50 watt workhorse with some character of it's own, I think you'll do just fine.

I owned one, personally I like the SD rectifier way better, my duece is always in SD on higher gain settings, it is a great amp, if you don't need the higher wattage I recommend it

I had a single and liked it a lot. Change out V1 for a 5751 and it helps add clarity and better control to the gain structure.

It is in fact revision 2 so ill be able to tube swap and have the extra voicings.

I was thinking I wont notice the headroom difference too much as the mesa gets most of its distortion from the preamp anyway.

Thanks for the response guys!

I recommend the Series II, as you can put in EL34 and KT88 tubes. The Rectifies sound killer with KT tubes in them.

I really like my Series I Single Rec! They are a sleeper amp, IMO. They have their own sound, for sure. I can pull off the classic Dual Rectifier vibe, but it has it's own thing going. Hit it with a clean boost, and it's metal heaven. The cleans can be really nice too with a bit of tweaking. Hit the clean channel with a chorus and a little bit of compression. Great sounds can be had, especially with single coils.

Here's some high gain madness from my Single Rec with Mesa 6L6 and 9th gen Chinese Tubes.

Ibanez RG-770DX into Digitech Bad Monkey set as a clean boost

Same rig with my Agile Les Paul

There are some more videos of my Mesa on my page as well. A lower volume clip with my semi-hollow, and some high volume riffage with my Les Paul.

Feel free to PM me if you've got any questions, hopefully I can help you out :).
