I just received the DLX module. Wow what a huge difference. It turns out that something was off with the T/T. I have to give major props to Bruce for taking care of me.

What tubes are you guys using in V1 of your D/D and DLX?

I liked a JP 5751 in there personally.

How does the DLX compare to the Bassman module?

I have four new JP 5751 tubes and all are microphinic. I talked to Bruce and he suggests people do not use these as well. Consider yourself lucky if yours are fine. They asound great! A buddy of mine has a few as well....both microphonic as hell.

I switched to JJ ECC81s....very similar tubes.

Well my friends and also Bruce warned me about the JP5751 tubes but I wouldn't listen....I wanted them anyway!

Wow, interesting........I've had like 4 or 5 over the years and I've not had one microphonic issue with them. Oh well.

if they have been tested to be good...and have been burned in properly..then you own't have issues. Mine have been burned in over 72 hours on a tube burn in board....

I've owned many 5751's over the years and have never found them to be more microphonic than any other tube. The Jan Philips 5751 are a nice NOS tube for the money. I'm running two of them in the DLX and one in V1 of the VX. Putting the TS 6550's in my Mod 50 was a revelation. Now I know what you guys mean when you say you like the amp DLX and T/D better than your Fenders. I'm getting huge clean tones with nice sparkle.

I almost gave up on the Mod 50 and even had it on the chopping block. I just couldn't dial in a clean I was happy with. Now it's one of the best clean tones I've had in a long time. I love happy endings :jerkit:

Wags......Yea, I am just not a 6550 guy. The Tung Sol EL34Bs are my go to tube for the Mod 50. I don't fuss over my clean nearly as much as having authentic british medium to high gain tones.

Eric, do little elves burn in you tubes? You have em locked in the basement? Ha! I kid...

Do they do that at the Tube Store my friend?

I agree man,the TS6550 were hands down the best tubes for the Mod50,just a beautiful rich and thick tone!!!!

You know I just like a smoother, squishier, british tone....hence my love of EL34s. :D

I am trapped between both the 6550s and the GT E34LS. I can't seem to get the gain as chewy with the 6550s but can't get the cleans as pristine with the E34LS oh well haha. Love them both though

Exactly, it is more important for me to have that chewy gain....hence my love of EL34s. I still get cleans I love. So far I loved the JJ E34Ls and Tung Sol EL34Bs.
