"Modern" tone??

Modern to me is like Wes Borland tone through triple rectifiers with dimarzio blaze.

Metallica tone on cunning stunts.
Machine Head is modern to me.


80s cockrock tone, that's pre modern to me.

But modern to some is clanky shit like a wizard hellrazor. Or some of the new circuits coming out that lack any and all testicular attributes assumed that the player is tuning to G#.

That's modern to some. Annoying AF to others.

Because there's still alot of boomer trolls that will whine if someone calls them vintage tones or old school. When all these fuckers are dead, the smarter peeps will finally be able to have their say!

Wish people would get it in their brain how old most boomers are now. Most are dead already And the others are either waiting for great grandkids to come over, or filling diaper in hospice somewhere. They’re generally not on forums and playing guitar anymore..unless they’re a sideman for the Stones. 😉

I think it's far more creepier that you and a couple members feel the need to follow me and reply on different threads instead of just acting your "age" and let it be. Yeah, I'm in my 50's and even if I proved it, some of you would just say something like fake IS just like when I posted the screenshot of the email MXR sent me to tell me they were sending me the pedal 👍

This wasn't a direct insult to you or anyone specifically, and the majority of boomers dead? That's laughable. And, lastly, just saying how the vast majority feels, not really "my" mentality. Anyways, it's the truth either way, my generation won't be around all that much longer either so why are you salty about it?

As an old millennial myself, and growing up in Western Mass, Killswitch was my go to band for a while. Total coincidence, but after I bought a Kemper off reverb I realized it was from a dude that used to be in Acacia Strain. It has all his models from the Wormwood album as well as ones he pinched from KSE End of Heartache
 
I’d say “modern” tone is whatever plugin that works. Kids now are writing and recording music on their computers more than getting together to jam (in general). Gone are the days of getting whatever amp you can afford that’s loud enough to be able to be heard over a drummer.
Now’s it’s just finding a sound that works for whatever tune you are working on.

The gear market has long been geared towards recreating tones of the past. I see it more about simple workable tones now for new songs

Bottom line is, I made a thread about the "worst" Recto, because I want to know which ones I can get for the cheapest, with 6L6 and I run everything low gain..clean crispy break up

It literally has zero to do with the amps, and everything to do with the playing style. I’m surprised this is that hard to figure out. Amps are amps, they react to what you are playing and what your hands are doing. The proof is in the pudding,”modern” bands are using amps that are 30-40 years old at this point and creating “‘modern” sounds….what more proof do you need? Do you think that if dokken in 1982 used a jcm 800 and a tc electronics preamp like Meshuggah, that they would sound like Meshuggah? Of course they wouldn’t.
