lol

I spent my first 6 years out of college in management for a company that distributed/marketed Monster Cable. That whole company is a giant pyramid scheme

skim it over and read the last few paragraphs.

pretty awesome, IMO.

Kurt Denke, you're the f**king man... If you'll be at NAMM in Anaheim, there are drinks with your name on 'em.

kurt ftw.

i use a company called VTG, they arent high dollar stuff, but they dont get tangled.

but it if were to do a studio session recordings... what kind of cables are top of the line nowdays. im just curious.

i know planet wave sucks. broke an angle end off of a cable and it was the cheap kind with the button as well. didnt work half the time anyway.

never tried monster cables, doubt i want too now after reading that..

I just spent some quality time reading through the whole thing... reminds me of my uncle who can bring down the very eloquent, "You're a f**k-tard" legal speak when needed.

Amazing.

i own a whopping two cables at the moment

proco lifelines
and an EWI recommended to me by onearmedskissor

both sound fine to me

Wow, I read the whole thing. That was awesome. I cant wait to read Monsters response...which will probably kept private.

It's definitely worth the whole read... I believe Kurt wants to keep the whole thing public, so if they reply to him, I imagine he's going to wide-band their response.

Monster Cables should be sued for making shitty cables. I've broken at least 5 of them in a 3 year span when i gigging out. Other cheap brands i bought didn't break during that time.

That is fuckin awesome. I hope Monster Cable goes down. Their stuff is overpriced anyway.

I read this off of Digg -- that dude completely pwned Monster Cable.

That response = BOOM HEAD SHOT!

God, I hate Monster. And I love pwnage. Too good.

You know, I only ever bought cables from Audiopile because they were cheap, come in all shapes and sizes, and I don't really care about cables, but it turns out, the EWI cables I have are the only ones that have never broken on me at all.

I also have a few CBI cables from AMS that were very cheap and held up very well. My friend actually bent a barrel plug on one somehow, but it's otherwise still sturdy and works fine. The solder connection on one of them ripped off, though. They have shrink wrap tube things over the connections that keeps them from bending really at all, which is quite nice considering how ridiculously cheap they were, so at least I got a few years out of it, but that's apparently still no guarantee.

If I ever need a cable of any type that Blue Jean Cables makes, I will purchase from them and no one else. That letter RULES!

I think there was someone on one of the HC forums that used to work for Monster Cable (you perhaps?). He told that you could get >$100 retail cables for about $10 if you were an employee, and they still had profit.

Sometimes I'm just so curious about what the profit margins are on some products... I can understand manual labour is expensive, who wants to make the same pedal over and over; but paying those prices for a little piece of machine-made cable.

A an associate of the company I work for, we get some pretty good discounts from some vendors. Monster cables are 60% off. Unfortunately, I don't like Monster cables.

ya i mentioned something on this forum about it.

monster cable's HDMI cables for retail. they're like... 129.99 for an 8ft cable.

i got mine tax and all out the door for $8.56 with my discount

to be honest, i don't know why everyone has so much hate for Monster cables, yeah their prices are more than high but they sound great to me and if it goes bad i can just get another one for free.

i own quite a few of them and have gigged them non-stop and have NEVER had a problem, period.

A) Tons of cable companies have lifetime warranties
B) I've had several monster cables fail on me, of course YMMV
c) I think the biggest issue people have with them are the incredibly sleazy business practices. The frivolous lawsuits, the fact that they force feed them to uneducated best buy customers, and the fact that they are marketed as "premium" despite the lack of performance, etc.
