to be honest, i don't know why everyone has so much hate for Monster cables, yeah their prices are more than high but they sound great to me and if it goes bad i can just get another one for free.

i own quite a few of them and have gigged them non-stop and have NEVER had a problem, period.
A) Tons of cable companies have lifetime warranties
B) I've had several monster cables fail on me, of course YMMV
c) I think the biggest issue people have with them are the incredibly sleazy business practices. The frivolous lawsuits, the fact that they force feed them to uneducated best buy customers, and the fact that they are marketed as "premium" despite the lack of performance, etc.

Ok. Well I'm getting ready to go out and buy a buttload of cable this week. I was going to get monster speaker and instrument cable b/c of the warranty. Name some other common cable companies with lifetime warranties that I can walk in off the street and pickup at a GC or Sam Ash.

I think Monster cable is a good cable, but not for the price they are asking. It is about as good as the cable they give you when you buy a guitar at GC or Sam's Ass. There are much better quality cables out there like Van Den Hul or Vovox. For the every day Joe who wants just simple cables, he is better off buying a no name brand then a overpriced MC that is not much different cable wise. Even Mogami is a fairly cheap cable you can buy in bulk and is just as good as MC.

i used to play planet waves but i just like the feel/sound of Monster cables better. I guess, i've just always had great experiences with Monster that i have no reason to look anywhere else.

I've been a fanof Plant Waves cables for some time, I've never had one break on me yet.....

FWIW, I had an old Bass Player Mag, that had a "cable shootout" and Carvins cables scored up there amongst the best.

i will never use another planet wave cable. my VTG cables have outlasted those pieces of shit. the ends broke off over time, come to find out, they were pastic.

premolded junk. plus, the lifetime warranty was a joke. still cost me a fraction of the $50 cable to mail it off to get one back and i was still out of a cable because sam "ass" wouldnt refund me the difference to change brands.

Guitar player just did a cable shootout

I was surprised to see the Vai cable in the winners circle, I assumed it was just a regular dimarzio with fancy plugs. Guess I was wrong

I'd like to see the list of all the brands they tested.... would be helpful :D

Like I said though, I've had great luck with the PW cables as well as the Carvins, I've actually been contemplating switching back to Carvin, just for the hell of it. My Speaker cables are Carvins, I've had them and been using the same exact ones for over 15 years now.  Killer, NEVER had a problem out of them.

At the Lavacable web page under cable summit, they rank many cables there. Most are higher end cable, but you can see where Monster cable ranks and how they scored on various test. They actually were pretty low. These test are on Dynamics, pitch definition, balance, signal strength, transient response and transparency. Planet Waves actually scored a little higher and Dimarzio and MC cable were about the same. Mogami, I am shocked scored very low. I have come to find that most lower end cables with whatever fancy ends, sound the same. The higher end ones are drastically better, but are very different in the treble and bass. Some carry those two qualities a little further.
