I just got a DropTune pedal and figured I would do a demo. Hopefully the video will stay up long enough for people to see it (there is of course a Copyright Claim going, the bastards).

The guitar is tuned to Drop C and the Mastodon song is in Drop A and I used the actual drum and bass guitar stems and took out the main guitar stems (left a few of the overdubs), as they released them all for a contest a few months back.

I love this pedal!!!

Cool cover. I have always been intrigued by that pedal. I haveheard some good things about it.

Bitchin! I am really enjoying their new album a lot. Could you PM me the link to the contest files?

Spill the beans about the tone.

The tracks can be had at http://contest.mastodonrocks.com/

And the tone is just a boosted Diezel Herbert sim in Line 6 POD Farm with a little bit of EQ. Tried to match the original one as close as possible.

Thanks for checking it out!

Same here. I haven't tried it out yet but if it works as it should and if it doesn't effect your tone-that's one hell of a usable pedal!

Great video/clip/playing as always!!!

It does affect your tone a little. It was glitchy and did have some latency too, but after the latest firmware update, its golden.

I have one - joined a Sabbath Tribute band and was using it for the different tunings (Eb for the Dio years, and C# for stuff like symptom of the universe, children of the grave, etc).

Long story short - it works, but the further you get from your starting pitch, the worse artifacts you get and delay. Sounds much better if you're running supergain than clean, and you also lose harmonics and high end the further you get from your base pitch. To drop a half step is fairly unaffected, the C# stuff gets a little wooly.

This is very true! I've tried one a couple of times and updated it as well but really didn't notice it to be that much better. Lots of latency when you are dropping a couple of steps down as well as affecting your tone. Don't get me wrong here, it works very well....I just don't like the change in tone.

I'm trying the Whammy DT this week to see how it works in comparison. I hate the size of the pedal but if it works well, I can live with that, no problem.

Yeah you can't go past a step and a half without it falling apart.

A buddy is getting a Whammy DT next week and I hope to do a side-by-side with the Morpheus.

They really need to incorporate shift up and down in one pedal. Digitech just came out with the Whammy DT which in addition to being a Whammy, it has a pitch shift section that allows you to droptune or capo up 7 1/2 steps. The problem with that is that its HUGE.. I think that eventually, theyll release the Droptune/capo section as a stand alone box in the near future..

Seriously Morpheus, just come out with a pedal that does both...

I'd definitely have to pick that up.

The latency issue is a deal breaker though-they'd need to fix that.

Great job on the cover, btw....fluff191!
Nicely done!!!

I just picked up my Whammy DT the other day. Fantastic. HUGE...yes....but you are getting 3 pedals in one. The obvious whammy piece, the drop tuner and the capo. I've owned a couple of Morpheus pedals since they came out hoping that it was going to be my solution but in the end, there is too much of both latency and I find the pedal to be noise and suck out all of the bottom end, even with the newest update applied.

The Whammy DT on the other hand is much, much better. Not even close to the same amount of issues I've had with the Morpheus pedal. Again, the problem with it is the size of the case.

I am in the middle of building a pedal board that is a bit smaller but with this piece, it's making it more of a challenge. Oh well...it sounds great and replaces 3 pedals into one on the board for me so I'll take my lumps with it and enjoy it.

I actually called up Digitech and asked them if they had plans to release the up/down tune section as a stand alone pedal and they said no immeadiate plans but I got the wink wink, stay tuned feeling. Its obviously a piece that would be in demand and Digitech obviously has a good handle on the tech.

I have no need for the whammy DT though. Live, the Super shift function on my Boss PS-6 works fine for my Whammy uses and I have no need to tune up or down live but I do at home if I want to play in standard or D as I tune all my guitars to Eb.

Patiently waiting until Digi, releases the stand alone pedal and am very stoked to hear that you have compared them to Morpheus and they blow them out of the water...
