This....but with a vintage JMP....'Totally stock, un modded....' then you see a pic of the chassis and the bright cap is gone, a master vol added, and a loop...'but its totally stock...'
..and the guy wants 10k because it's a 1971 Marshall.

Or, a 'USA Charvel' for 2k....has a Charvel USA sticker on the HS, but the plate is one of those Chinese clones with a 7 digit number on it....or the model series that the guy says 'its made in the USA!!' and wants 2k. No, it's not.
Hey man, I think I need to drill some holes for a polarity switch while I’m at it.

"It's so new it still has the plastic on the pickguard"

Which i must admit isn't technically a lie... just means they were too lazy to peel the plastic off for 5 years.

Only ever used in a "smoke free" studio..

Anytime someone oversells when describing the gear, or why they're selling it.

Serious buyers know what they're looking at, we just need an honest description of the current condition.

-Nails the brown sound
-Best thing I’ve ever owned. I’ll own another again someday
-So good, hookers will pay YOU to have sex
-Sounds so good it’s like Reza and James Lugo had a baby
-SoZo caps and Zenner diodes is more effective than Rogaine for hair regrowth

Today's ad: "Original owner" $1k firm
Yesterday's ad: 3rd owner, $200 obo.

People that call their amp/guitar "she", and "My tech gave it a clean bill of health"

MINT, except for giant ding in the headstock, fine scratches, and light buckle rash, otherwise MINT condition.

"I have three other ones, and this one plays the best"

"It pains me to do this".

"One of only 5,000 made". SUPER RARE.

I've been victim to this more than once. Not necessarily in the ad, but during discussion/leading up to the transaction. Tire kicking sellers:

"Ok, let's meet at X location at Y time"

Sellers never show. Ignores my texts and calls. Then after constant hammering, a day or two later I get "sorry, it's been sold".

Then I see a new ad for the same item from the same seller next week.

I once drove an hour to buy a PRS Tremonti MT15. I text the guy that I'm at the location a few minutes ahead of schedule. Then I get a text "Sorry I got called in to work". Another time I had an appointment to go buy a car for my wife. Literally 5 blocks away from getting to the location, and the seller texts me "car has been sold".

People are scum.

"The best guitar I have ever played"

Translation:
You can't polish a turd.
It plays well but sounds like crap.
I wan't something else new and shiny
