How are those Torques and MCP Singles I sold ya?!?!? ;)

Eric, nice tones on that recording. What effects were you running? Very 60s/70s.

My favorite LP pickup right now is the Guitar Force Erupter, FAT and ballsey, yet sweet. I found it more full and warmer than the Torque. I thikn ths Torque was great, just not in that guitar.

I have a Timbrewolf in my other LP and it is SLIGHTLY scooped in the mids. I think that is my problem with it. I thikn the Afwayus will be a nice one for this LP, or another Guitar Force like the Spitfire which is supposed to be a PAF on steroids at about 12k+. Wonder if the Afwayus would balance with a Wolfetone Marshallhead neck pickup? Hmmm

I was using a Voodoo Labs Microvibe...so a Uni-vibe clone. Doing that "Robin Trower" "Bridge of Sighs" thing ;). Don't know much at all about the Guitar Force pickups. I like the Afwayus a lot since they are balanced throughout. A bit high on the low end side, but hey it's a paul :). supposed so sound like that!!!

I can't wait...I have a set of Bareknuckle "Steve Steven's" Rebel Yell pickups I'm putting in my Heritage Les Paul. Gonna move my Afwayus to my Warmoth Soloist (alder body w/ Quit maple top). I heard the clips that Steve Stevens did for Tim @ BKP and holy shit...I was super impressed. Given that I am BLOWN AWAY by my BKP "Stormy Monday" pickups in my Warmoth Hollow body, I can't wait to put the Rebel Yells in my Heritage LP.

Man,I just played both of these back to back and the Torques have an insane tight, fat, clear open bottom!!!More heavy in the mids and they are muscular,Still one of my favorites!!!They are in an SG Custom.Don't even get me started on the neck pickup

Really can depend on the guitar. Eric finds em less muscular than Jason but it could be the guitar. Another thing, you never know how muscular a pickup will be till installed, it is hard to tell from specs alone. I have 9.2 pickups that have huge muscularity. One of the most muscular pickups to my ears is the Rio Grande BBQ.

True.i just find the Torques have a cleaner muscle than Afwayu.I also have the Blissbuckers in an LP and they are not hot but feel very ballsy and vintagey and make me feel all warm inside   Guess I better stop HUH!!!!

I agree with both you and richidie. The Torques have more of a vintage flair with a more "vintage muscle" tone ;). The Afwayus have a bit more modern feel...which is killer for harder rock...and such. I liked both. I just liked the Afwayus better for me ;).

Zactly!!!!!!!!!!!Not really sure if I like one better than the other because I really like what each does WELL!!!! :D

Eric, I think that is why I like the set up I have with my Pauls. One gets the Guitar Force Erupter - 9.1 AII and the other gets the Wolfetone TimbreWolf.

Erupter: "This hot-rodded PAF-style pickup provides infinite sustain and the rich harmonics he is know for(EHV). An A2 magnet delivers clarity and a smooth lively punch. Get ready for some 6-sting pyrotechnics. Specifications: Bridge DCR 9.1K

"The Timbre Wolf pickup uses an Alnico-5 magnet and has an ohm reading of about 15k. This is designed to be a modern voiced bridge pickup, a real screamer. This pickup has a chunky, howling bass, crisp highs, and a slightly scooped midrange. This pickup is long sustaining, ultra thick, and rich in harmonics and howls like there's no tomorrow."

Lastly, anyone know if Wade handwinds his pickups?

-Joe

Hi Joe. I sure do handwind. I also have wound with machine controled traverse- There is the Raging debate which is better, yada yada. The important thing is to know the differences and isolate the characteristics of each method using them to your advantage. There's really no better or worse way, just style and class- what works for the designer. Lastly, the pickup works as a system so changing the TPL (Turns per layer) on just one coil is going to change the system entirely not to mention the materials of choice so there are noodles of options that keep all the builders unique.....
Thanks for all the kind words guys...You guys know I don't get out much, lol. Drop me a line anytime!!
