Motorcity pickups question...

I'm not really sure :aww: I believe they used to be called the Angel Dust. In the email Wade called them the Bliss Buckers.

AngelDust is a different pickup from the Blissbucker or the Blister. I haven't played the Blissbucker or the Torque but I do know that my brother in law is absolutely ECSTATIC about the Blissbucker in his LesPaul.

Me too!!!!!Altho I was playing the Torque in an SG custom and was smiling pretty good  I love Wades pickups man,By far some of the best out there.

I just purchased a set of the Blisster Buckers. I'm going to put them in my LP and see what I think of them. If I am not satisfied and would like a less hot PAF type tone than what they give, I'll put them in my PRS and order a set of Bliss Buckers. I'm excited to hear what the Blisster is going to sound like my LP. I'm hoping I can get a good mix of classic rock and modern/hard rock tones from them....we shall see!

Let us know how that works out, eh?

I was mentioning to Jason that Wade has made me a custom over-wound A5 Black-Belt that is destined for a walnut capped LesPaul body. I'll add my thoughts to the post when I try that bad boy set out.

Did you get them with Alinico 2s? That's what mine has in it. I've never tried the Blister w/A5s, but the A2 definitely takes some of that high end off you'd get with, say, a 59.

It is definitely hotter than a 59 though  ...to the point where you may even want to reduce the gain a tad on your amp.

No, I got them with the fives. I figured I'd give them a go stock and then from there I'll be able to make a more informed decision on where to go in the future, should I not like them. I'm pumped to try them out, that's for sure.

I like Wade's a lot!

However, I find A2s just lack some of the clarity and punch of an A5 - especially for rock! I think an A5 with a 300k volume is ideal.

Are any of your guys using pickups in the 14-16k range? Sometimes that can be too hot for modern amps like the Egnater and can be too compressed and thin. Sometimes it is better sticking with low-medium output.

The Eggie loves hot pickups, hell I love hot pickups,no problems dialing in killer tone and Wades HO pickups sound GREAT!!!!!!!!But I do love the LO Bliss,it's as sweet as sweet can be :D

Well the Blister Bucker is 14.X ish...one of the reasons I preferred an A2 in it was to tame some of that high end that becomes more apparent in a higher output pup...However, I did lower the gain on the amp a little, as well as bump up some of the high end EQ on my 6 band to compensate. Its in an Alder Pacer body...perfect for Lynch/DeMartini. All in all, I still prefer it over the 59 I had in the guitar before.

ForPAF 7-9k styled pups, I certainly agree A5 is the way to go.

I think there are less highs in the higher output pickups and more highs the lowerput, hence I find A5s better in high gainers and a toss up in the PAF range. My Guitar Force Erupter is 9.1 A2 but it works well.

I thought you were talking about the Bliss boy!

Just wanted to say that the Blissters in my LP sound amazing! Thanks Eric :D , and of course, Wade

Really gave my LP some bite and made SL2 sound so much better. I can see why people would love the Torque in an LP because the Blisster is just a tad less hot and I'm really digging it. It's a great compromise pickup if you are looking to do classic rock and still do some modern rock as well. Haven't really run them through the paces yet, but my initial reaction is, WOW!

Funny you ask... Just 1 day ago I just put a custom-wound set of Black Belts into a LesPaul. I got Wade to over-wind them a bit and we decided that they would also have A5 magnets. So how do they sound? They match up with a LesPaul very nicely indeed. Like the rest of Wade's stuff, lots of clarity, a really nice vintagy-chunky low-end, plenty of bite on the top end. Amazing clean-up by rolling off the volume. Beatiful cleans. I wouldn't say that they have any special mid-range characteristics, but that wasn't what I was going for.

This is the first time I tried this: Full volume on bridge pickup for the full amount of dirt, volume at 2 or so on the neck pickup for a beautiful clean. I could go from dirty to clean just by using the toggle switch on the guitar. I think I was playing through a gained up EG5 or a fairly heavily boosted Brahma, can't quite remember but I marvelled at how well that worked. These pickups are definately staying in the 'Paul.

That is so weird. I would have definately requested A5 and a slight overwind too. Go figure, small world huh? Glad you like them they sound exactly like what I need. Did you rewire the Les Paul with an RS kit or anything else to improve the tone/wiring scheme or is just the stock Gibson wiring plate?

Great minds thinking alike, obviously... :D No, I don't have a good wiring kit in place yet and so the tone will get even better when i get around to installing one (inevitable). The RS kit made a pretty big difference in another LesPaul that I have.

Wow, I can only imagine ... over-wound A5 Black Belts with an RS kit. And you said the volume turned down to 2 was already sweet, on the neck pick up even which is always woofy to begin with when you dial it down on the stock LP.

Damn, I need to sell some stuff.
