I'm needing to clear up some pedalboard space and leaning towards a multi effects unit like the above. My effects use is minimal actually, I've got a Strymon Lex, Drybell Vibe Machine, MXR phase mini, Foxxrox Octron and a Peteresen tuner, couple other things in the loop. Looking at getting a wah on the board which currently sits off to the side when I use it. They all get used so little that I'm thinking I can really reduce the footprint. Are units like the Eventide user friendly ? I don't want to get into the editing nightmare, want it quick and easy(er) and need access on the fly. I've dug in and researched a bit but want some real World use input. Up front I'll say I appreciate any input but really need some re: live use

I both loved and hated my H9 Max so I assume I’d hate the H90. Sounds are killer, hated programming it.

I’d seriously consider the Fractal VP4. I’m moving a bunch of pedals off the board as well and pretty sure the VP4 will be my solution.

Was the H9 love hate due to the programming? The AxeFX gave me hives hahah not sure the VP4 would be any better but I need to look into it. The goal is play not program. Thanks for the input !

The H90 is much easier to deal with than the H9. The H9 really needs to use the phone ap. If you do that, it’s a piece of cake. I use a desktop ap for the H90 and it’s fairly simple as well, but definitely easier than the H9 if just using the unit

I have both the H9 and H90. It’s a learning curve. I use about 5 sounds on the H90 which are easily tweakable and great. I use 1 for my lead sound from the H9. Great units and im not a programmer. Don’t try to learn everything at once. Play a preset. Then you will hear something you don’t like. The learn how to change it. Over time it’s pretty easy. If you are a manual guy; have at it…. I can’t learn that way.

My experience:
I've owned a pair of H9's for about 10 years and I bought their H90 as well. As mentioned above, the H9 really needs the app to easily make edits.

The H90 is definitely easier to program on the pedal itself. I hate complicated panels and with a little tinkering I was able to do it. If I can do it, anyone can do it. The app for the H90 is easy to use if you go that route as well, especially if you want to program a bunch of presets and save them. I built 5 presets based off the pre-installed presets and that's worked well for me.
The H90 has a mono/stereo loop so you can also connect any other pedals to it. And very easy to put the loop before, after or in parallel with the H90.

Another vote for the Fractal VP4 (even if you just use it in the loop for time based effects) and it's very easy to use.

I have an H9 and an H90, if you like the eventide sound pony up for the H90. It handles line level much better, is easier to program, more horsepower with different routing options and an insert loop function. Finally, doesn’t require a phone or app to program.

I do think the H9 at current used rates is the best configurable delay pedal available right now at the price. The H90 absolutely destroyed resale value for that pedal and it’s still really good if you want a chameleon. Also worth it if you use a midi switcher…

Thanks for all the input, very appreciated. For sure I'm in the 'buy once, cry once' camp relative to this..... the used prices on the H9 are pretty good though, but more horsepower, ease of use and likely better product shelf life are appealing

Dove into a few H90 demos and its clear its a better choice than the H9. Lots going on in there
I love the H9. After owning it, I would go for the H90 in a heartbeat. I'm still considering getting another H9 if I find a reasonable price. I'm not a huge fx user, but I could be happy with just the fx in that unit. They just sound fantastic. I just wish the H9 allowed more I could use at the same time, like the H90.
