Like most of you, music is my drug of choice. I have a large music collection and for playlists I’ve created, I use Apple Music. But when I look for new music, I find their curated playlists to be horrible. I say I’m looking for hard rock or metal and they recommend indie and ambient soft rock.

What else is out there? I used to use Songza, which had great curated playlists, but it’s disappeared. Google play never loaded correctly for me. Spotify was alright, though its been ages since I’ve used it. Pandora is alright. I heard about Tidal- owned by Jay Z, but it seems to cater mostly towards rap/ hip hop. Though from what I’ve read, the audio quality seems to be top notch.

What app do you use for discovering new music? Which app is your favourite? Who has the best recommendations for new music?

I use YouTube music. Mainly because it gives me ad free YouTube also. Seems to have pretty good playlists. Better than Spotify. I really liked Tidal and always discovered new music, but not for $20 a month. But Tidal is probably the best at curated playlists.

I've been very happy with Tidal - excellent quality, and the playlists are actually pretty solid. I like that they pay the artists more per stream, too. Still a laughable amount, but a bigger laughable amount.

To me, $20 a month feels like almost nothing, when it gets me all of the recorded music that ever existed at my fingertips. I'd pay a lot more than that! Shhhh... don't tell Tidal :censored:

Spotify is there best and recommends you new stuff based on your listening habits. I’ve never even heard of any of these other things lol

I've had a Spotify account for a long time. It has almost everything (not all the niche stuff) and I find the interface to be really good as well. It started off feeling like the old iTunes interface which if you ask me was the best way to organize music I've ever used. It has since deviated a bit from that and gotten slightly worse because of that, but it's still good.
