Anyone ever do one of their Charvel replicas?? I have a few "mutt" guitars and they worked out great. In fact some are my "go to " guitars. But I have never dealt with Musikraft. Does anyone have any experience with their parts? How well does everything match up after they are assembled? Ive looked at Charvel custom shop strats and I think that with a pro luthier assembling my Musikraft I'd still be well under the price Charvel is asking. Any opinions would be great

I am looking into possibly doing the same thing as you with a Musikraft body and neck this winter..
The guy re fretting my guitar sells guitars made with Musikraft parts...
And they just happen to be right up the street from me..

Did he say how difficult they were to piece together? Did everything match up pretty well? My fear is that the luthier I give it to to assemble will have to do alot of re-working to get it to run properly.

I am going there tomorrow to drop my guitar off I will ask him a long with play some of the built guitars...
I do know he is a fan of the new Charvel stuff because we have already talked about it..

Kramer not Charvel copy, but UPS just brought me one today.
Great quality, sweet feeling neck, and the damn tightest neck pocket I've ever seen.

Musikraft makes excellent parts. The Charvel stuff is pretty much dead on, and will match up with the promod parts.

I have heard mostly good things about Musikraft but some people complained that they got a neck with backbow or bad fret work and no warranty since they installed the neck.

I got a real nice Korina strat body and neck with real Brazilian rosewood from them a few years ago, just have not got around to getting it built.

Sweet guitar Dougie  I just like the idea of getting the exact options I want and saving a little bit of money over a "real" custom shop. For those who have built one, is it a little more difficult then simply bolting everything together and just doing a good set up ? I figure there has to be more to it then that ???

Here are a few pics of my latest project. The neck and the body are both from Musikraft and they fit up like a frick'n glove. Slapped it together, strung it up and it played and sounded great(acoustically) right off the bat. I have since put the pick up in and wired it up and it kills  I would highly recommend them

I've used Musikraft necks and like them a lot, but they are not ready to go "out of the box"...they typically will need the frets dressed.

NOICE!!!!!

More and more I am thinking I am done buying superstrats from makers other than Charvel if the right one comes up, my YJM clone came out great and now building a Andy Summers clone.

Thanks man -

I'm putting a MCP Blissterbucker in there tomorrow and stringing her up.

Right now it just has a white primer coat and is ready for paint.

I'm thinking of letting my wife Decopage it with some old comic book pages -
kinda like Vai's old Schecter with the Little Annie Fannie strips.

Or maybe I'll let my 5 year old daughter have at it with some paint pens.
That would be cool, but I'd probably never be allowed to sell it...

Mine was ready to go out of the box with semi-rolled fretboard edges and the frets seem to be dressed rather well. But what do I know

Musikraft makes fantastic stuff....I have 3 in my shop and have built a few for others. Great fretwork, great neck pockets in the bodies and super attention to detail. It really is a great deal putting one together. I'm working on a white Jake E. Lee clone right now for a customer.

That sounds like an awesome project post up pictures when you are done man

I really got to sell mine mine since I just dont have the time or money to put it together right now.

Musikraft strat body in Korina all one piece and a korina neck with reverse 70's strat head stock with a slab Brazilian board and no inlays or frets installed.

I will post a classified ad shortly but would like to get 600 I paid close to 850 and Musikraft no longer has Brazilian or Korina in stock. Send me a PM if intrested or just wait for me to post the classified.

Well all of these responses have given me alot more confidence :D Jerry are those three in the shop for sale ? Or are they customer guitars? I think I may have to look more seriously at these

I built a 'customized' Charvel clone a few years ago (70's headstock, huge-ass neck).
It plays and sounds great, and the people @ Musikraft were great to deal with.
The finish on the neck and body are flawless.

Here's an old pic:
