You guys should have heard the shit that didn't make the first post Nuno Extreme record...Americocaine is the best Extreme song ever and it's never been released in it's final form...the solo would blow you away. Nuno may be the most talented player alive...he's the one guy I wish would do a guitar shred album because it probably wouldn't bore me to death, he's the one guy that I think could pull it off. His previous band to Extreme was called Sinful , and Nuno was playing a 3 single coil strat copy guitar through a Laney AOR head and Ampeg V4 cabs sweeping just like Yngwie...he really can do it all.

+1 on the shred album. You can get Americocaine on the import of Saudades.

Yes, you can!! I actually have it. It is on the Frontiers Records European version, but it is a demo not the final version.

That version of Americocaine isn't the one with the "good" solo. I have a cassette copy somewhere that I got from a friend of mine that was friends with his nephew or cousin or something like that, and THAT solo is epic. It also has Contradiction, Shes Alright, and a few others on it. They should have put those songs on their first self titled record...game changer. They worked with Bob St John at Courtlen studios on the south shore of Massachusetts demoing and re-demoing all the time because their management had a tie in with the studio. Their self produced demos were amazing without any outside help as far as a producer, Bob engineered it all for them (and probably helped with production, but I'm not sure about that, especially as far as arrangements).

Ah ok. I've obviously never heard that track. They have a lot of unreleased material that would satisfy their loyalists, but as a band they just don't really do things to keep our attention. This Rihanna stuff is really starting to get on my nerves.

Exactly how is Nickelback so bad compared to acres of 80's mediocrity?

Seems the same.

Say what you want about Gary and is preening but he is a killer vocalist. I even like his time with VH. Speaking of that, he played the Roth but well but he could actually sing.

Whole band is killer. Nuno's riffs. Gary and Pat laying down an incredible groove. The new drummer Kevin F is damn good too.

Bonus points for me given he's from my home town

I did not know there was even a post-Nuno Extreme? Nuno is probably one of the baddest guitarist out there. Too bad he has not really recorded anything worthwhile after Extreme.

Schizophonic is a great record!!!

Pre Nuno!

Nuno rules. The bagging on newer corporate radio rock is laughable, as is the old 80's formula for some of that radio rock for teenage girls.

Pornograffiti has a huge volume of licks.

I admit I like some Nickleback. I used to sing/play "Never Again" and loved covering it. Truth is, there's cheesy song mediocrity in every decade of Rock. But the big difference to me between the 80's and modern cheese rock now is that back in the 80's no matter how cheesy the tune the guitar players were generally VERY good lead players. Not so much anymore, with some exceptions of course.

I dig the Dramagods cd.

This. Although I was happy to see Extreme reunite, I thought the Dramagods CD was stronger song-wise than Saudades.

Twisted Sister and Warrant and Poison and Motley Crue ? Good lead playing ? Doubt it...Or even good song writing ? Not.

So how is Nuno is douche.
And for the record, the other guitars players make me think of what the 80's guys on this board probably look like. :)
Nuno can be a douche...I've met him a few times...he's been half cool when i met him...but I've heard stories from people I trust and read stuff online from people he's worked with that he can be, well, let's just say difficult.

      These guys were the exception though and Motley Crue had some great songs (hell Shout At The Devil kicked ass) as did Posion with Richie Kotzen. Warrant and the CC Deville Poison sucked IMHO. But lots of people loved them.

Actually, the solos on the first Warrant album were really good -- done by studio guy, Mike Slamer. Good technique, and great melodic sense.

Nuno is phenomenal, but the times I've met him, he was a dick - with the exception of the first time I met him, when he was a 'nobody' opening for Winger on a club tour. He was super cool then.
