Casey,
What does the white knob on the Axess GRX4 do?
That looks great.

hehe.. everyone wants to know this.. maybe i'll give it up... maybe not :P
:gethim:

ok fine i'll spill, its a solo boost.

Was the built in buffer modded by some one to give you that option?

And where did you get those right angle midi cables? Great space saver there, I need me some of those.

Very nice rig there buddy, SWEEEEET!

its not in the buffer section at all.. its in the 4th loop, which is fed by the FX send of the mod50.. i did it myself, but chatted with mario about options etc.. have to be carefully with high impedance and relays..

i made every cable on that board, but the midi plugs are Preh 5pin's. awesome and rock solid

Is this the TM 112?

Tuner? Myself and a good local tech tried a variety of tuners including the Peterson Strobe of which two broke! I was told to stick with the inductry standard, Boss TU-2 and it has not failed me. For intonation I use my Korg. How is the Turbo Tuner better? I would not want true bypass because I like that my Boss has a buffer to kick my signal along.

Why the Access controller? I am wondering if I could use something like that to control my Damage Control Glass Nexus. Does this just control your amp and effects?

I tried pedal snakes and various power supplies and found the easiest and quietest method for me was to use a powered Furman pedalboard, this way it is all in one. You tried this method?
For a snake, I just take my loop cables and cable from pedalboard to amp input and wrap them with cable ties, keeps em nice and neat. Then I only have to plug in my midi cable and power.

nope thats an eggie OS 1x12

i had a boss tu-2, i swapped it for the turbo tuner, and I love it.. its so much more accurate, and tracks so much faster than the boss. my pedals are all buffered by the grx4, and I don't even run a return from the turbo tuner, anyway, so its not an issue about it being buffered / true-bypass.

The axess mfc5 is a great midi controller that allows me to control the grx4 and the mod50. its small and I know mario's stuff is built well, so I use it.

I never tried the furman powered boards.. i don't think they isolate the dc outputs.. not sure, never really looked at it. the pp2+ is an industry standard (and was really easy to mod for the nova modulator) the board itself is 1/2" ply with a formica top, and aluminum channeling. its tougher than nails.

the cable tie idea is alright, and it easier if you even need to replace or add a cable. I like the techflex wrapping because it adds some minimal protection around the snake.

Casey, looks great man! I also think Egnaters look beautiful in the living room.

With that Axess midi controller only having 3 switches in a bank, do you need to bank up to change to module 2, channel B?

basement actually.. much nicer furniture in the living room :P

i program my presets per song, so sometimes I have to bank up if theres that much switching in a song. there's 3 switches, and one global preset, so you have '4' technically. my 'main' bank when i'm goofin around is
1 - twin
2 - erect A (lower gain)
3 - erect B (higher gain)
Global = tune

I may see if Mojo cabs can make me an Eggie 112 which is MUCH larger than the TM 112. This is odd because the TM 212 is similar in sice to the USA Eggie 212.

I guess that is my problem with the Turbo Tuner, I would miss a buffer to begin my board. I would have to get a buffer like the MXR buffer before the tuner.

I found the pp2+ colored the sound too much and I find the Furman a nice all in one package and is totally silent other than some hum from the amp depending on the room.

We gig like 3-4 times a year so I don't get to crazy with this stuff, but I rerally like your set up.

What do you do for leads? I know the Erect isn't ideal for leads. Do you have some sort of mid boost?

the pp2 colored your sound?? i think you're the first person I've ever heard this from....

erect works alright for leads.. aparently the friedman mod fixes it, but i've never hear one.. no mid boost, it works alright for soloing.. sometimes I use a wah, most of the time, just a delay..

Mojo already makes an oversize 1X12. I have one. You can even get it Marshall styled with the same gold piping and basket weave grill cloth as an Egnater. If you called them I bet they would do the black & tan tolex too. I've seen other stuff Mojo has done in the Egnater tolex color scheme.

Absolutely bizzar about a PP2 coloring your sound. Are you sure? What did you hear?

Just have mojo make you one fully custom!!! I did that. I had them make me a 1x12 sealed (non-ported) closed back 1x12 that is EXACTLY the same look as an eggie cab. It's the same width as my Mod50 1x12 combo, and 12" deep. Black, tan tolex...and same grill cloth.

That's what I would recommend!!

How much was that Eric? I'm need a cab for my Lonestar, and those cabs are very hard to come by. This might be a good option.

Hi guys,

What I was saying was that the Egnater USA 112 is larger than the ones you guys are mentioning from Mojo. I would have to give them the Egnater dimensions.

Dimensions:
Height….22.75"
Width…..25"
Depth…..14"

It is also ported but I think that helps allow the speaker to breathe a bit.

here's the latest incarnation of my rig. Amp is a mod50 with the t/d & erect modules into an egnater oversized 1x12.
this rig kills, and it now that i'm finally settled, its wired up and ready to go!

i've had tons of things going on, but with shows coming up, I was forced to get it done..

april_2009_1.png

you can see the entire rig (pretty compact by some standards..) with a 20ft snake, 3xaudio runs, and 1x5pin locking XLR for midi.

april_2009_2.png

shot of the board, guitar feeds into the patchbox, then to the rmc wizard, from there it hits the grx4 (buffer on) then sends to 3 loops (tuner / compressor / modulator) then into the amp. FX loop comes back and hits the dd20. I toss between the series and parallel loops, but kinda dig the series a little more (I loop live).

just another top shot..

shot of the patchbox on the board where the snake connects.. nicely labeled, so any joe can hook my rig up for me!

thanks for checkin it out!

Casey

Dude...what a nice setup!!! Very very cool!

had a rehearsal last night before the showcase tomorrow.

man, this rig sounds killer. I chatted with bruce on wednesday about fixing a ground problem in the mod50.. my rig is dead silent. its so funny when the singer who's got a marshall stack turns around and goes "Man, If i spent $3000 on this marshall setup, and I heard that amp, i'd be so pissed"

hehe.. gotta love the eggie..

Hey Casey, one of the girls here at the office just handed me a quaint brown box that arrived in the mail. It's my Turbo Tuner!!!

Man, these people are fast! I only ordered this on Wednesday. Today is Friday.

 Looks Great,Very clean and compact. Makes me want to do a small pedal board.
