My goal is "Diezel"

I think what he means is, why does the OP have to make excuses for why he has all this gear, you made the judgement that it's not necessary for ANYONE other than touring musicians to have alot of or expensive gear? why is that? I made a post that was deleted, but I think regardless of ability and weather you are in a band or not you should be able to buy gear in any amount or cost, as long as it makes the person doing it happy who the hell cares? my guess weather you admit it or not is that you are jealous. And I'm sure you will be offended by that, but that is besides the point. Why is it always the asumption that professionals should have all the good stuff? Brad is not a professional racecar driver yet he owns a ferrari and a viper, so does your same logic apply? why do you have a silverburst lespaul and a VH4? are you in TOOL? are you Adam Jones, if not then sell that stuff immediatly as you possibly can't own that stuff????? see what I mean it's irrational to think the way you do.

H&H Buy whatever makes you happy dude! I wish I had all the Diezel stuff, I do miss my Herbert!

That 65amps amp is nice too! lucky duck!

I say, if you want it and can afford it then more power to ya. I hate when people make excuses as to why spending all this money is gear is pointless unless your a touring musician. We all need somnething to keep us happy and out of other bad habits such as drugs, alcohol and gambling so for us its guitars and amps

Excuses? What do you mean?

Honestly, I never gave two thoughts about the cost of a Diezel. The only thing I though about was how much better
life was with them. I paid $ 3299 for my VH4 in 1999 !!! I played it exclusively to 2004 and sold it. Ten amps later,
I went back to the VH4 in 2008 and sold almost all of the amps that I bought. When you tally up the total GAS and wasted
time, $ 1000 per channel seems like a good investment, a bargain actually. With two of them you can cover every genre or
style you are looking for.

I'm sticking with the sex and rock'n roll man... The booze, pills and powders nearly took me out after 20 some odd years of no regrets. Been clean and sober now for 4 years - can't say I miss any of it, especially the hospital trips

I'm not justifying my spending of cash on now another addiction, as that's still addictive behaviour, but I like nice things. Just like some cats dig exotic cars, I dig exotic amps and tones. Couldn't give a rats ass about cars really... But a rig that'll flap my pants, and a guitar that feels like sex in my hands...?? HELL YEAH!!! :D

You're just ridiculous.  I'm not going to even bother with this one. Maybe the definition of "assumption" is different in the Great White North?

Nope, I read what you wrote, and you sound like a condescending ass, you didn't assume any thing. You made a statement????

"but that's just me"

I just took stock of my sound room and came up with about $35K in gear, not including my DAW and mics etc.

So it goes... We all have our own movies.

i just did my inventory for my insurance.....maybe i should go buy a brand new Mercedes now.

You're giving a guy crap over a measly 30K in gear? Please.....

My hobbies are guns, guitars, cars, and snowmobiles.......

I probably have $50K in two custom vehicles that are for pleasure and $20K in snowmobiles. Now that doesn't even cover the cost of actually using these hoobies in fuel, insurance, maintenance, etc.

I've got around $17K in my guitar hobby and I have a ton of different items. Compared to the above mentioned hobbies, it's a pretty good bang for your buck when you consider each individual item and the amount of joy each delivers. When compared to other "guy" type hobbies, having 10-30K into a guitar collection is peanuts.

You have to relies that not everyone is in the same financial bracket. Some guys have 15-100K to spend on hobbie(s), some guys don't "yet." You don't have to be EVH to have a collection of nice gear, and you don't have to be Tony Stewart to have a nice car. Anyone that thinks different is either stupid, jealous, or both.

This is EXACTLY what I was trying to say oh well! at least other people read the comment the way I did and I'm not totally crazy!

Oh and my mistake! I didn't spell "assumption" correctly! thanks for not saying anything! you are a real pal! :jerkit:
and it seems you have close to $10,000 in gear to play in your bedroom? is that necessary? I mean come on!?

just trying to make a point! nothing else!  Anyways I wish I had a VH4 and a silver burst les paul!

You know what, I typed out this long response. But, I just don't care anymore. You're right. I'm a jealous hack who can't play guitar. I just buy amps and guitars to stare at in my bedroom all day. I love to troll the Diezel page in my spare time, looking to fight with angry Canadians because I secretly wish I were a Frenchman, but the closest I can get is this "conversation" with my overly-defensive neighbor to the north. When America wanted to change the name to "Freedom Fries," I wept.

It's painfully obvious that if you have better gear than I, then I will automatically hate you. And I only go to these forums to show how big my e-cock is. And let me tell you, it's painfully small. E-women won't even go near me. I think it's because I keep a 10 year old firewall in my e-wallet and it's formed an impression in my back e-pocket.

Sorry to have wasted all you guys' precious online time-wasting... errr. time?

Thanks for subscribing to my Youtube channel, by the way! Please don't spam or troll that shit. Or I'll probably just cry to my e-therapist. :)

First of all, Thanks for being rude and "assuming" all Canadians are french? :D  What does that have to do with our discussion at all? Do you like attacking the fact that I am Canadian in a passive aggressive way? making silly comments about "freedom fries"? that is just reatarded man. I didn't make any comments about where you come from, am I defensive? I wasn't before but I sure as fuck am now!

When did I call you a hack? I never said that, or alluded to that in any way! some of the best players I know outside of the "professional" world are bedroom players! So that's all on you bro! once again with the assumptions!

Listen pal, You are the one who made a fuckin lame comment about the amount of money someone has tied up in gear, and YOU are the one who can't handle being called on said comment. Not just by me, but other people noticed it as well, but I'm the most vocal about it so you choose to passively attack me.

The OP was just stating how he loves Diezel amps and wants to own all of them, can you fault someone for that? it seems you can, once again, maybe jealousy? deep seeded or otherwise, perhaps and you can't come to grips with that? But of course you would never admit that in front of your special internet buddies!

Anyhow you seem to have taken out some aggression towards me that you might have built up from the time we crossed paths on the debate over "pinch harmonics on a vh4" thread.

Anyhow I don't need to bother you on your youtube page, I watched your videos, and I have nothing to comment on, you get good tones and have some rocking guitars I wish I had!! so pinch on dude!

No, I said the "closest" I could get to being a Frenchman was Canada. I didn't say you were French. Keep 'em coming, buddy!

Again with this "you too" shit. And, again with not knowing what an assumption is. Calling me a bedroom player is what it is, man. It's an insult and you know it.

Listen pal, You are the one who made a fuckin lame comment about the amount of money someone has tied up in gear

Wrong, I made a comment about the amount of money someone WOULD HAVE tied up in gear. As in, future tense. As in, it hasn't happened yet.

and YOU are the one who can't handle being called on said comment. Not just by me, but other people noticed it as well, but I'm the most vocal about it so you choose to passively attack me.

You pissed me off the most, so I chose to ACTIVELY defend myself against your sill comments. I'm not being passive aggressive, here.

The OP was just stating how he loves Diezel amps and wants to own all of them, can you fault someone for that? it seems you can, once again, maybe jealousy? deep seeded or otherwise, perhaps and you can't come to grips with that? I thought I did just that? I admitted it in my previous post. I'm am insanely jealous. Like I said I have a deep seeded hate for anybody who has anything better than I.

Are you going to keep repeating yourself? Are we done here? What more is there left to say? What do you want from me?

Anyhow you seem to have taken out some aggression towards me that you might have built up from the time we crossed paths on the debate over "pinch harmonics on a vh4" thread.

I don't hold grudges. I don't even look at people's screen names half the time. And I certainly don't care about that pinch harmonics thread enough to hunt you down and start shit with you about it.

Anyhow I don't need to bother you on your youtube page, I watched your videos, and I have nothing to comment on, you get good tones and have some rocking guitars I wish I had!! so pinch on dude!

Thanks, I really like the videos you uploaded to your Youtube channel as well.

If any of you would like to continue this, take it to PM, please. :)

I played semi pro for a few years and I am now trying to get the right guys and get it going again have many contacts. But beyong that I just love playing and I love gear and besides I do not drink or do drugs in any way shape or form " I JUST DON'T PARTY" I spend my money on thing's that I enjoy and can get you money back if needed. If that affends then so be it.Plus I like being able to share my gear with people who want to try it out in our area because you can not find it in this area anywhere and that is one of the most important things I can do as a musician in this world today....

Greg

You just nailed my life's story on the head... My wife loves me to bits - sees all these custom Les Pauls, ESP's, and Hamers and so forth coming through the door; Diezels, cabinets, Bogners, amp heads, gear - my computer is constantly on RT or some similar gear related site. I asked her one night why it didn't drive her nuts? Her reply? "Well babe, you don't drink, you don't get high, you don't "hang with the boys playin' poker or hitting the strip clubs", you don't surf porn, you're always mellow, you're a great dad, and a fuckin' awesome lover... I say BUY ALL THE GEAR YA WANT!!! Some girls should BE so lucky" and I am not joking folks, that was the reply of my most excellent wife... And I agree - when I kicked all the bad habits - and I had a shitload, believe me - I got into Buddhist based meditations. Since then, things have mellowed in that arena, but I still play - a LOT - in fact, more than ever before. For me it's one in the same... So we're ALL good with it - buy it, play it, use it, abuse it... There are worse things out there for sure!!

And judging from the fact I just made my mind up to buy an Einy with matching 2x12, now I'm already looking at the Schmidt like.....why not??? Diezel KICKS ass. Period. Best tone, at least for me, in the entire world...sure beats snorting rails off a hookers ass, falling out of my own car drunk while I'm driving (long story but it happened), getting pounded by the cops, always in debt, rehab, pills, powders, the scenes....forGET it!!

V.
Awesome posts! Inspiration to this 20 year old's ears for sure!

I'm pretty new to the whole gear thing - only been playing for about 5 years - but in the past few years I've put nearly all the money I've made into guitars, amps, cabs, etc. Tone is priceless for me, and as difficult as it's been to buy thousands worth of gear off a minimum wage job while I'm in school, it's well worth it! No drinking or drugs for me either; my cranked amps give me another kind of high: one that gets me there every time with zero repercussions. Maybe some people think that's kind of "gay", but screw it....I'm the one with the hot girlfriend for nearly 3 years! :2thumbsup:

Good luck on getting all the Diezels! That's a great goal to have; keep us updated!
