OK....you guys maybe have or havent been following my soap opera with the Diezels.
Sold my Vh4S to get the Herbert.
2009 model??
Serial # 01/937
Any help on what year it is?
There are no external bias points on this amp. :(
That was a bummer......but hey...it sounds FANTASTIC!
Loaded with EL34's

Well.......the Herbert arrived a couple hours ago.... :worship:

This thing.....(my opinion of course)
can do everything and sounds INCREDIBLE!!
Channel 2 is AMAZING!! Has a built in gain boost type switch ( +/-)
For me its my AC/DC to Dokken switch.
I run the gain at about noon and ran alot of songs up the flag pole to check it out.
Passed them all with flying colors.
Didnt use the Mid Cut switch. No need for it..........Yet! ;)

Channel 3 is where it gets nasty. For me it reminds me of Channel 4 of my Vh4 but little more GROWL with the gain at noon. Kick it to about 2 o'clock.....there isnt any metal that you cant do on this amp.
I dont understand where everyone says it dont cut? I havent played it in a band setting yet(This weekend) but it BLASTS right now alone! I am running a full stack. 180 watts of Pure bliss.
Why I hesitated is beyond me.
This amp is as good as it gets.
I have owned alot of amps....and this is the KING OF THE HILL! :worship:
It just sounds fantastic!!
Peter.....I thanked you for making the VH4S......
but would love to SHAKE YOUR HAND for this HERBERT!!
Yeah.......I am A Diezel Fanboi.......

Danno

congrats its a great purchase.....

I used to dislike chan 2- but the gain dimed and with the new cab it ROCKS (more than 2+!!)

and yeah chan 3 is exceptionnal

Now get off the computer and start humpin' that fine piece of amp!!

V. :D

Channel 2 is my FAVE so far!!
Yes....I still use a clean boost and run the gain at noon....and it is SMOKING!!
But.......NO BBE on this amp!

use an eq and boost on channel 3 to tighten it and u can make a super thicker version of channel 2. its like using the amp to the max and then controlling it

I don't know it,Herbert SN are not like Vh4/Vh4s..ask P.Diezel/Stapfer or wait for someone that has a SN similar to yours.

..use the Midcut! :D
For me on ch2+ gain at 2/3 and MidCut engaged an open, percussive, brutal modern metal tone!
On Ch3 i use gain at 1 and with MidCut a less open but more gainy, growly metal tone.
Both channel can do extreme metal as well.
With midcut non activated, true, some similar Vh4 ch3/4 sounds.
Brutal of course but also an AWESOME clean channel and AWESOME ch2 -.
Hope..I'm sure you'll be very happy! :)

awesome. another happy costumer.

Congrats bro !
I´m happy to hear this.
You´re using a boost ? I guess you need a noisegate then ?
I sold my ISP, no need for it. Couldn´t believe it...
You can get great different sounds, playing with the volumes.

And now just play this beast...

Serious congrats! I feel the same as you every time I turn it on!

Congratulations Dan, enjoy the amp and keep us updated on your quest.

Since it is Wednesday and as V. Said you are busy humping the Herbert this is for you!!

Its better than I imagined. When I got a chance to OPEN IT UP.....wow.
I really like this amp with a clean boost. But thats how I like all the amps. No gain on the boost and the gain on the amp at noon for either channel 2 and 3. Perfect!!
Super GRINDY tone on 2.....3 its CRUNCH heaven with underlying brutality!

Dan, congratulations! Also love the fact that those Eminence Super V's in the Randall Lynch Cab are sounding really killer.
I was afraid that those speakers might be a little too loose (modeled after the Fane's in the early Hiwatt cabs) with all of the PUNCH that the Herbert's got on tap.
Here's a little Diezel porn for your humping session... :rawk: \:D/
mike.

I will own another VH4 one day....when the funds are right.
Till then I am IN LOVE like never before....with this HERBERT!! :rawk:

Ha ha..Congrats bro.. I KNEW we would end up with a Herbert. Like you said, the VH4.. an amazing machine.. the Herbert... a Beautiful Monster!! You now have the best of the best..Play on and enjoy tonal bliss. Cheerz
