it actually took me a while to change me mind on the channel thing

but i've definitely been won over to channel 2, the minus is awesome for a lot of things as well!!!

the mid cut i was also heavily attached to, now i still leave it on but turn the intensity down a bit,

then channel 3, idk, it's just for solo work i think now

have fun man

I am sure I will flip flop on both channels.
Just was doing some alone guitar work with it last night.
This weekend is the REAL TEST.
Band Practice! ;)

And no.......I will not get lost in the mix.
I dont care if I have to turn it to 10!!

Besides......I am the only guitar out there....so no one to compete with.
And at 180 watts.....no reason to get lost in a mix?

dude marshall makes this plate that turns your cab stero. then you can mix 2 heads.i run my herbert with a mark 5, and it is beyond words. try that with the Lynch box

I have it running now with 2 full cabs.
Its huge. The Crate loaded with V-30's is way weaker then the Lynch box cab I have.....thats for certain.

very cool, but you should still try it through one cab, its a little different when both come out of the same cab

Only one small problem........

I only have one amp!

Used to always have a couple at the same time.
Had to narrow down my gear. If I get one or want one....Must sell off the one I have.
I am sure it sounds Sweet though! ;)

2009 model??
Serial # 01/937
Any help on what year it is?
There are no external bias points on this amp. :(
That was a bummer......but hey...it sounds FANTASTIC!
Loaded with EL34's

This doesn't make sense. External bias didn't stop until 2010 and I've seen other amps with serial numbers over 1000 that had external bias. Look behind the back panel - on the chasis, near the tube sockets. There should be the test points and holes to insert the screw-driver to turn the bias pots. If not, see below...

Does it have tube fault LEDs on the back of the chasis? These started in mid-2006.

Mine is a 2006 (#585) it has both the LEDs and external bias. Are you sure your serial number isn't 01/437, where what may look like a "9" could really be a "4", which would put it as a 2004 - and then no external bias would make sense.

Who did you get the amp from? What year did they say it was?

I got it from Magdon Music. Ordered on line. Guy told me it was new just floor stock.
It does have the Tube fault Led's on it. I will double check the Serial # when I get home. At work till midnight. But I am pretty sure it was 937.
also came stock with EL34's. What year was they coming in them?
Thanks for the info and I will double check the Serial # tonite.

Another quick question.....
Will the Bias be behind the Metal gill in the back? DO I have to remove it?
When I had the External Bias on my Egnater they were right about where the LED fail lights are.
I didnt remove the Back grill last night.

Ya just got it and yer already messin' with her... You're a sick man MM71, sick.

I've been HAMMERING my VH4S for the last week and I am STILL not sure the Herb's gonna change anything for me. I think I am stuck with my V, and the Herb a second amp down the road. I pulled my order - will wait and see what the Euro does, might pick one up if it drops in price relative to my wants and needs. But good luck man, I know you've been waiting for that puppy to hump, hold and hammer for what seemed like AGES to us following your somewhat demented and sick soap opera-like storyline... So get at her, warm 'er up, and dime that bitch - Herbert comes alive after NOON, just like that VH4S you USED to have.

Let us know how you feel after the honeymoon is over Braddah... ALL the best, ya know we love ya!!

V.

You've got to pull the back plate to get to the bias points. Sounds like you'll find them, you have to if it's #937. As far as it's age, it's likely an early 2008, my Herbert is #1040 and is a late '08, which mine also has the ext. bias test points.

If you think it sounds good now, try junking the EL34's for KT88's. They really open up the Herbert and help shake some of that pesky compression off of ch3.

I had it CRANKED when playing yesterday alone.
Probably Gig level.
Oh.....it came to life all right...
Damn thing is amazing.
I am getting some VH4 tones out of it on channel 2.

Get one........you wont be sorry. ;)

Yes. Remove the metal grill on the back and you'll see them.
